Here's what I want to know....

I cuss that section of road at least once a week. All the way from the river to Lenoir is the worst drive. Everyone is either going 20 or 65
I cannot agree with you more. Luckily my commute is east/west and I don't have to hit 321 during rush hours. Just wait til it goes 6 lanes with even more stop lights. That's in the near future.

4 way stops arent nearly as dangerous as putting in a traffic circle in a rural area thats never seen one. When I lived in Wilksboro they added one to slow traffic down by a school.. I guess they forgot to mail out directions on how to use it. Idiots were going the wrong way around it.. going over the top of it.. and would sometimes just stop and sit there at the yield sign.

There is traffic circle in Huntersville just like that. You would think if it was at the entrance of your neighborhood you would be able to figure out how it works. What is so confusing about a yield sign? It is probably the same people who merge on the interstate going 35.

There's one at wcu. But it's understandable that people don't know wtf to do considering the fact that there is no mention of them at all during driver's ed or in the whole dmv book... They're pretty fucking stupid anyway.

I like traffic circles. They keep things flowing if the drivers know how to use them. Sure beats stopping.

You guys complaining about people driving in the left lane. What is stopping you from passing on the right? I do it all the time. Is it against the law to pass on the right? Heck, I had a buddy in college that would regularly pass using the shoulder of the interstate if two people were going the same speed beside each other.

How exactly does the posi-trac
rear end on a Plymouth work?

Did you see Joe Dirt on TV last night too? :)

No joke. Go spend some time driving around in the UK is smaller towns. No stoplights, just circles (er, "Roundabouts'). SOOOO much more logical, everybody gets to keep moving, and it's alot more fun if yer in a truck to just barely curve and cut almost straight through, hee hee.
They put some in at 421 in Lewisville - even put up a SIGN in front of it w/ a diagram.
In fact, right on the fornt home page for Lewisville NC, is THIS. Complete instructions on using the damn thing.

I just don't see what's so hard about this??????? People IN the circle have right of way, you squeeze in when you can, exit when you want. That's it!
Why shoudl you even need a sign? Any monkey should be able to do thi.

Yes, in NC it IS illegal to pass on the right.
That shoulder bit is just downright dangerous, for osme reason I've only seen that done in VA - THOSE guys are crazy...

funny, that exact quote is on a bumper sticker planted on my beer fridge down stairs!
If I were in a car and had a BIG truck across from me I think I would rather give them the wave ahead than seeing how a compact fits under a DZL(not that I'm ever in a car but I get it often):flipoff2: :driver:

X2, I've got that same sticker:D

Passing on the shoulder.....

I was coming back from Atlanta one day when a Bike was passing everyone on the right shoulder....He jumped out behind a big truck and didn't see a broke down car on the right... Needless to say, he is not around anymore.

i thought the whole 6 lane deal was farther up going into the mountains? Will it affect the bridge area at all? I live in Northlakes and it would suck to have that whole stretch there full of construction crap.

Yeah, I actually got a ticket because of an asshole like that, up in NJ. I got behind him on a back road where the limit was 55, he dragged his ass along at under 40 until we finally got to one of the few passing zones on that road. He sees my blinker come on and suddenly he can find 3rd gear and the gas pedal at the same time.

So we're neck and neck for about 1/4 mile, when out from behind a shrub jumps a friggin Statey, and of course pulls ME over, because I was the one stupid enough to stop. The jagoff that caused ME to speed just kept on going.

anytime im not in a rush..i have the best luck on the road

If im late for work, school, or anything important i get stuck behind the old lady in the crown vic thats slows down half a mile before she has to turn
And puts on the left signal to turn right, if she remembers what they are at all. Yeah. Me too.

And then there are the utter morons who think a turn signal means they're supposed to speed up and close the gap the other guy is trying to change lanes in. I used to have a 45-mile drive to work and one day an asshole from Maryland made me miss three consecutive left turns toward my job because he wouldn't let me over. We got right beside each other at one of the lights and I wanted SOOOO bad to take my ice scraper to the side of his car.

You'd think so, wouldn't you?

Fortunately, I haven't had to deal with many circles around Durham, but there are two in Trenton NJ that are apparently impossible to figure out. One is where White Horse Ave crosses Broad St and for some unknown reason it's not JUST a circle, but has little "cut-through" lanes across the center. They'd be better off with just a light.

The other one is a plain old circle, but on one side, drivers naturally yield to the ones IN the circle. Go around to the far side and you have to stand on your brakes to keep from hitting the ones who just charge on in.

Unfortunately like many things that work in Europe, it doesn't work here(there are lots of those). People in NJ can't even grasp the concept of making traffic circles function effectively. And people up there can grasp those 'jug-handles' (making a right turn to go left) and are on average, more skilled drivers than the average north carolinian driver. I've seen one or two in this state and it's a textbook clusterfawk. It is a good idea though "In theory". :smokin:

"And there's Parliment!"

yeah whenever I live in england every other year for a month the driving is crazy, they drive so fast and thouse round-abouts are really something to get used to. I couldnt handle driving over there, and vice versa for them probably
