HHO first hand

Had a guy come into the shop today with a setup on his Ram 1500 w/ 5.2L. Said he had seen an increase of about 6mpg and has been using it for about 10 tanks of gas so far.

I also met a guy who gets 25 mpg in his stock Ford 7.3.

I don't know why people exaggerate their numbers so much when they talk.

hho on 95 taco

I installed a homemade unit on my 95 Taco 22rec. So far I have seen only 8-10% increase in milage, but I found several leaks and I also modified my electrolyte concentration. I built a second unti to add to the system so I am holding out hope.

Skyhi...i have no idea what any of that means. lol, i just did like futbal and posted the first thing i found on the web. Everyone on the web refers to this as an HHO system. i dont know why.
they discussed the non compatible issue with closed looped efi a little deeper into the thread but not by much.

He means that when the bond breaks between a hydrogen and a oxygen in a water molecule it releases enough energy to blow the block, and prolly alot of stuff around, up

I met a guy in lincolnton that has one on his ranger. second system he has installed. the first was a smaller version. He swears he's getting about 40 mph out of it. He is an older guy that has more mechanical junk laying around that you can count, so I'm assuming he's a decent mechanic. He did mention that it doesn't seem to work well on efi, because of the computers.

EFI

I have heard and read about mods to the O2 sensor via 2 methods that might help. The first and easiest is to place a sensor extender on the O2 sensor to move it out of the exhaust stream. The second involves building or buying a controller that allows you to fool the computer into thinking the HHO is not there. It can be bought on EBAY for 40 bucks or so and may be built for about 30 bucks.

i've got a carb, so if you're seeing that it actually is working I would really like to try this

Sounds like none of us is brave enough to try this, including me.. Dad mentioned hearing about it as well, but we are waiting to see if anyone comes up with a mileage log before / after with all gas purchaseses etc to prove it all.

this guy oughta be a shoe in. 400 horse 110mpg mustang.

Oh, that one is funny.

He claims 110mpg from a Mustang with a 302, and also claims it'll do 0-60 in 3 seconds. Riight.

It takes over 600hp for that car to do 0-60 in street trim. No way a car with that much power would EVER get any kind of decent mileage, much less 110mpg.

And he wouldn't let anyone see under the hood. Wonder why............
