Hey all,
We're getting my wife's co-worker a holster as his going away gift. He has a Sig P226 with a rail...

I really don't know much about him, I know he's into guns and carries all the time.

It will be a surprise, so we can't ask too many questions...
Price range around $150.

Any suggestions?

What to look for, what to avoid?

Thanks guys!!

I recondmend a tier1 agis style holster due to the versatility of the holster.

Check out Versacarry . The Arma is stunningly snug for an OWB. I'm also wearing a Protector S1, another OWB that if I could find someone to merge with the Arma's front belt hoop would be - for me, a perfect holster. IWB's tend to cause my pants to fall down... but the Element as a behind-the-back backup is working for me. Yea, I got the gut out front thing... ;-)

Holsters are a very personal choice and I don't know if it would be the best option as a gift, especially if you can't really ask specific questions to dial in what they're really into...that's just my opinion, but I agree on the Tier 1 being a fantastic choice. Their lead times are like a month or more at times so that might not even be an option, anything custom is going to have a lead time so keep that in mind.

I personally wouldn’t get a holster for someone who is already a “gun guy”.

Something more universally needed or less a personal preference would be better.

yeah, I know..my wife works with him, but he lives in Utah....so I'm ordering one as a favor for 3 women!! - so....this is why I'm turning to the experts!

Tier1 Concealment Agis holster. Tier1 is the brand. It's an iwb that can be modified by the user to work for just about any carry position around the waist. They also have fairly good retention and retention adjustment.

This strikes me as akin to being asked to pick out underwear for another dude.

Hands down nicest holsters around.. I think he is on CFF as well.

And that's why as "experts" we're recommending against a holster as a gift 😉
yeah, I know what you're saying...I really agree....The gun in particular was given to him as a gift as well...and "they" decided that a holster was appropriate...my problem is I'm up against a deadline....and since her co workers live all over the U.S....I'll get what they're asking me to..he may use it....he may not......

I completely understand where you're coming from and I don't envy your position a bit, but all you can do is try and keep the ladies happy...good luck whatever you decide

Since that's the case. I would go with a nice owb leather holster with either branding or lazer engaging to commemorate the gift.
