Is this wording specific to the "Carolina Squat" or could some officer who wanted to "throw the book" at someone use this for any lifted vehicle over 3"? I see some of it has lines through it. Are those sections that were proposed but removed? Personally I think some of these yahoo's need to be removed and are a danger but is it a slippery slope? Isn't there a lift law in NC already?

It's pretty specific that you cannot both raise the front by > 3" AND lower the back end by >2". So for any of us lifting the vehicle in a level fashion are unaffected.
An interesting loophole to this language is that you could theoretically lift the front 5" and not change the back end (e.g. install half a lift) and it is technically legal.

And, yes, there is a lift law on the books - it appears that what what is being amended was that very law.

I'm conflicted on this, I despise the carolina squat but I also despise the government telling people what they can do with their own personal property.
Right. While I think the squat itself is completely stupid, it is also relatively harmless in and of itself. The issue is blinding headlights, no visibility from the drivers seat, and terrible geometry. So address those 3, which are probably already illegal. Final result is that it's a do-nothing law that will probably only make it worse because now there will be "squat truck rebels".

Also, I give it a month before we see those stupid ass trucks pulling the cheapest, tiniest Harbor Freight trailer with a traffic cone on it and claiming its the load causing it to squat.

Don't like the law being on the books...I do think squatted trucks are stupid...but I didn't realize it was that big of a problem. I think I probably only see a squatted truck in the wild about once every 3 months, even then, the squat isn't that extreme.

There are 20-30 extreme ones in Asheboro area and they are having a lot of oiling issues blinding people with there lights. They have been writing tickets for headlight aiming but most are thrown out as improper equip.....

I see them often and I'm working from home and barely leave my house. I just shake my head and think I hope my daughter never goes out with any of these morons.

Around here the damn headlights aggravate me more than how stupid their trucks look and how shifty they sound. And it aint just squatted trucks.

There's so many around Columbia it doesn't even make sense. I can't drive a mile in any direction without hearing a V8 clap and synthesizer in the background. Lugoff, Elgin and Camden are swamped by them. Just ask @Wes and @ghost 😂
I won't hate on their mod preferences and they certainly don't pester mine. I've never seen or heard of one getting in an accident either.

You are correct sir. I watched a Camden cop pull over an insanely squatted Tahoe in the lows parking lot yesterday. Not sure what for. My guess would be the 1000 decibel straight pipes, but I’m only speculating.

We see quite a few come through where I work for powder coating services. These cats will pull up in a squatted truck and hand us a whole box of brand new lift kit parts (some of them worth thousands of dollars) to blast and powder coat some funky fruity color. Neon green, purple sparkle, pink, you name it. They'll usually pay up front whatever our rates are and wait patiently until it's done. When they come pick their stuff up they'll take half a dozen pictures and post em on IG raving to all their buddies about how "dope" it looks and then a week later more show back up with a few more boxes.

I see like 10 a day minimum

Not so bad in Surry County, just a few. JoCo is riddled with em and they have super modded headlamps aimed into the trees. 🤨

They are all over here. I see one every time I go into town. Hartsville is as bad or worse. Some of the boys that use to hang with my boys are into it now. Needless to say they don't come around any more. I posted on IG calling one out and his mom came at me. That should tell you where they come from.....

I had to. 😂

Not sure why any of this matters, maybe it is different outside of wake county, but I haven't seen a car pulled over in a year. The turbo two step (constant back-firing of the exhaust) is prevalent on all the road ways, and for sure violates noise level ordinances already on the books.

This is just B.S. legislation that they are pushing through so someone can say they did something.

Is there a database where you can back check how many tickets are written for a law like this? I would bet 1 year out, less than a dozen tickets are written in the whole state for the squat.

Yeah, same here. But apparently its not just a truck/SUV thing...its a lifestyle... Seems like they all wear PFG/Columbia truckers hats that sit just barely on top of their head and they all have their instagram name or last name in a cursive glitter sticker on the back window.

Oddly, I can't remember seeing even 1 of those abortions here in VA, but see 2-3 every time I cross the line.
Maybe it really is just a "Carolina" thing? Or the jack boot VSP (will ticket their own mothers) making it too "painful"? Or most likely it's that 95% of the trucks here are actually used for hauling crap and have the opposite rake?

Agreed on the ricer cackle thing or whatever you call it. All the karens on nextdoor think it's gunfire.

I'd love to see ticket stats on the texting while driving law, I see people doing it as much if not more than before the law.

Well here in NC/SC is the Carolina Squat, In TN, its the Tennessee Tilt, but I believe in VA, I believe its referred to the Virginia Vagina.
