Got two adult daughters that i absolutely adore. 34 and 32 years old. Talk to them every day. So tonight the SIL of my youngest calls and i hear her in the background. "Did you tell him?"
Then the phone went dead. As a US ARMY veteran, i went full on Battle Rattle. Was headed to Belmont locked and loaded.

Then Leah called me. They had a problem with the hvac unit that i fixed over the phone.
That's all my SIL was asking for.

But that's what i do. Over react as a Dad. Protect my kiddos.

The only way to be. The other night I had the same kind of reaction. My youngest son plays basketball outside beside our driveway all the time and occasionally his ball rolls across the road, we live in a quiet neighborhood at the dead end. This idiot in a fart box comes by absolutely flying so the he turned around and came back and the only thing I saw was a football and ran full boar to the end of the driveway and threw the football as hard as I ever have, it was almost dark and couldn’t see what I hit but I heard a loud pop so I’m assuming door, and I hollered at the top of my lungs don’t you ever drive that fast thru hear again, needless to say they slowed down and haven’t seen them back

"Home Protection" and self defense are not the only reasons I can do this.

I had to have a talk with the mailman today hauling ass down my driveway. I told him I want him to live a long life but you hit one of my kids that wont happen, my driveway isn't a freeway slow your ass down.
I’ve had the same talk with my UPS guy. Interestingly enough my two dogs HATE him (English coonhound and a Corgie/Shepherd.. they absolutely love our mail carrier and especially our awesome FedEx guy but walk around growling and side-eying the brown-shorted Santa. Every once in a while when our normal guy is off they’ll still act leery around the substitute but not nearly like they do with Dale. I don’t know about you guys but if my dogs don’t trust someone I don’t either

Preaching to the choir

I THOUGHT getting the kids out of the house and thru college would ease the anxiety and worry.

Nope... Just makes it a different kind.

Oldest daughter graduated UNCW, is a financial advisor, married to a good kid, home owner, and has a dog.
She calls 2 nights ago because her dog (MY granddog) has to go to the vet because of a possible infection. I'm on edge until she calls and says he's ok 🤦🏾‍♂️

Youngest daughter is in grad school at UNC chapel hill. She will call to vent or just talk thru stuff, and I worry if she's taken on too much 🤦🏾‍♂️

@Paul imma need lessons when one of em pops up with a seed in their belly. That I'll need to import shipments from Colorado frequently

Taking advice on how to get through the rest of my life, from girl dads. I’ve never experienced such visceral emotions before, even a mild inconvenience for one of my girls evokes a feeling that makes me want to rip the jaw from the skull of the person that made my daughter feel like anything but a princess. But I know they have to figure out how to navigate the real world on their own. Doesn’t make it any easier for me though.
