How long would you wait?

yep. he's waiting on somebody else to send a downpayment so he can use that money to finish yours. lets see him present that business model on Shark Tank.

Sounds to me like he is using money from other people's 50% down payments to pay for your parts. Floating his money to pay the bills.

That's what I was thinking. Usually signifies the beginning of the end, especially the forum based businesses. Your 50% goes to pay bills for another build, you get the run around and delayed responses, because the owner is hoping someone else's 50% comes in...but when it does, it goes to a higher return build. It's a never ending vicious cycle. the FSB forum has seen a few of those cases the last couple years, most notably RJM. Hard times are hard times, but if you give a completion date and take a guys money, live by it.

5/7- Seller sends PM says that he could finish it tomorrow if I send the remaining payment now, otherwise it would be done next week.
^^ This ^^ . I used to work for a guy who loved to drink and throw money around at bars, rent limo's and live the high life while neglecting bills. He often took down payments and drank that money away. Usually if he sent an email saying, if you give me more money, I can get it done faster it translated to " I drank all my money away and I need more, so I will promise something I have no intention of following through on " Good luck getting it straightened out buddy, Having known you a lot of years, I know it's not in your nature, but I'd out his name so others can avoid him.

Everytime I hear these basic customer service threads it makes me wonder what huge opportunity is sitting out there waiting to be tapped.

It was like USA6x6 (for any that still remember them) every corner of the net was full of stories of missed deadlines, incorrect parts and quality concerns. Yet they stayed HUGE for years simply because they met a demand...

Man, every single time I read a thread like this I think about USA6x6!

That's how the guy on CF did. He got a 20k payday and went ghost for 2 months before he would even post or reply to customers

Well I texted him after not getting a reply to my last two PMs, and it seems like there's some trouble with the PM system on this site. Anyway, I should have at least the housing this weekend.

Well, Saturday has come and gone and I have no parts. The vendor hasn't returned any of my messages or texts since the 24th.

What's happened Bud ? I am sure no one is doing business with this dude again.........

and here we sit waiting for the Vendor to explain themselves.....

Sorry for the lack of updates. Here's the latest for anyone that is following along.
After my last post here, I also sent them a PM asking for an immediate refund. Here are the happenings since then:

--He messaged me on Monday saying that he had tried to reply to one of my texts with a picture on Friday. I can't get picture messages on the number he has, so that may be a legitimate excuse. Says he will get my tracking number by lunchtime. (this tracking number is for the housing so that I can go ahead and mockup while waiting for the shafts.)

--No response by lunchtime. I get a text from him at 4:27pm asking for my address again. Respond immediately.

--Ask him for a tracking number at 7:26pm. He responds a few min later with one.

--I receive the package on 7/2. But it is only half of the housing. Useless for mockup. After contacting him, he says he'll ship the other half tomorrow and send the #.

--7/3 Seller sends invoice for other half of payment with a message saying "shaft ready 7/3/2014"

--I reply with a message asking for a pic of the shaft and tracking number for the other half of the housing before I send payment

--Seller replies that he won't actually have the shaft until Monday, as it's now on its way from the heat treaters.

I'm out of town for the weekend. My house sitter has mentioned there are some packages waiting for me. I'll verify and update when I get home.
So far, I don't think he is trying to rip anyone off. I just think he's pretty lacking in customer service skills and bad at estimating lead time. Hopefully I'll have a finished product soon, just a few months later than anticipated.

Just wanted to update with some good news. I received the final package today. 3 months and 9 days from the date of order to the final piece arriving. Yes, it took way longer than expected and the communication could have been much better, but in the end Behemoth came through with the parts and seemed to be ok to deal with. Hopefully this helps someone who may be considering going with Behemoth in the future. Just be sure to take his time estimates with a grain of salt (or multiply them by 3 ;)). So far the product looks good, and I'm looking forward to finally getting it installed.

It's called keeping a few parts "in-stock". He should try it.
