I like this truck a lot. But 7.3 prices are nuts right now and I'm wondering about the value of the mods?

PS I hate that fucking bumper and winch on the front so I could recoup a little cash selling that.

WHOA!

That is just dumb. DUMB!

it’s very nice and clean with low miles, but there’s no way I’d pay that much. I could find a 6.7 PSD for that much.

At the end of the day, they truck is worth what YOU are willing to pay for it. But holy cow that’s a lot of money for a 20 year old truck.

Have any of you shopped for a low mile 7.3 lately? Not disagreeing with you, They are all priced crazy!! And Unfortunately for me I really like that engine/body style. I had a 99 ECLB with 59K miles and I loved it, but we had kids and the baby seats wouldn't fit in the back.

Edit, he is not firm on price, but not in a hurry to sell. I'm pretty sure I could get him down to 22/23k. Still fucking painfull.

Just make an offer on it. Sure, these low mile 7.3 are priced high....no one knows if they are selling for anywhere near it. The market will decide what they are really worth.

Yeah, that's a ridiculous price. $15k max with mods, and even that seems high. Mods don't add much value, maybe a grand or two. In a sensible world, that would be a $10k truck, Warn 8274s would be $400, and Dana 300s would be $100...

Well if ATS transmissions are junk, its a Moo Point. You know, its like a Cow's opinion, it doesn't matter.

And I'm going to look at a different truck Monday.

Ha. Just take a look around at the tens of thousands of 4 door trucks you see every day. How many long beds?

I pass multiple contractors on the way to work so I see more long beds than I do short beds. To be fair I know short beds are more common.

Yeah plenty of folks asking in that range for 7.3 trucks so I get it, but can’t get on board. It’s crazy.

@rcalexander105 drank the kool-aid and bought a super clean 7.3, towed with it one time and sold it!

If that’s the truck you want, go for it but I’d try to be under $20k. If you just love that style and want it, I respect that. But just to share some info/fact just as food for thought. The 7.3 is a killer truck for what it WAS in its day. Now, not so much. Compared to a 2011+ Superduty, which you could get for that money, it’s a whole other ball game. Leaf springs vs coils, turning radius, refined interior, better seats, 10 years or newer, power, fuel mileage, you get the point. I’m sure you know about all of that too. Sure the 7.3 has low miles but all the parts are still 20 years old and will start needing replacement at some point.

Again, if that’s the very truck you want, I understand. But on paper, what you could get for that money, I just couldn’t do it. I think the 7.3 fad will fade in a few years.

Better options for 25K.Find a comparable 6.0 for 12-15k,bullet proof it and still spend less.My question is why did it have to have a trans??? was it abused or did they just change it as a preventative measure for the mods??

Since it’s kind of an opinion based question, it’s way over priced to me. I don’t get how a truck almost 20 years old can go for over $20k
Have you looked at the prices of OBS PS???

You could buy the same body style in a 6.0 with a much better transmission when then pay a Ford dealer to put a brand new 6.0 with a 100k mile warranty in it and be under that price...

OR buy a 03/04 6.0 that's shit the bed and do a Cummins swap.I had a 01 w the 4R100 and a John Woods VB and it worked well but I like the trans in my 06 a lot better.
