Grove 7550 Largest Mobile crane platform, 475' reach took 18 Semi's to get it here.

I'll bet light work, like placing A/C unit in the middle of roof.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner!! Actually it was three units.

Took 14 hrs. + to set it up, three hours to remove/replace units after testing the reach, and less than 8 hrs to pack up. Those guys really had their shit together, the crane looked brand new still had plastic on the operators seat.

Lol needs to go in the douche mobile thread with that big hook hanging of the front.... Lol jk those things are awesome

LOL!! I haven't considered his douche bag parking job. I should take some chalk out and re-line his spot.

That may be Grove's largest, but it's kind of a mid-range in the world of All-Terrain mobile cranes. I had a 1000 ton on one of my transformer lift jobs many years ago. Some of the newer Leibherrs can do over 600' and 1300+ tons, with the newer Terex cranes right behind it. Those usually need a 250-350 ton just to finish assembling the boom and counterweights.

Regardless, all very serious pieces of equipment!

I can't even begin to imagine. This thing blew my mind as far as size and capability for a mobile piece of equipment. I've been up inside Big Brutus (Largest electric shovel) but it seemed more of a large building on tracks than a piece of equipment.

Watching it work yesterday was like a ballet, without the crappy music, it was quiet and seemed so effortless. I'm sure the size was needed more for the reach than the lifting ability.

Some guy on the off shift left his truck in the parking lot over the weekend. I thought it would be funny if they were to have move it to the lot in front of the building. They were polite and worked around it

I do think one of teh harder parts of having that job would be not using the crane to fuck with people.

What's that crane cost per hr?

That's impressive for a mobile crane! However not mobile, the stationary crane at VC Summer nuclear station in SC is beyond belief.

A friend of mine is a commercial HVAC tec and they said for just a few units the crane doesn't really pay off. They use helicopters to move most of there's. He once removed and set 24 units in an hour with one chopper. He said the helicopters only run 700-1000 an hour.

Most of those have a cost in and a cost out with a set daily rate based on 8 hours.

100% dressed out, it's about $15k cost in and the same out, plus about $5,000-$8,000 per day depending on the support crew required for the job
