Hey All,
The heatpump for my house has gone out, and I need to replace it for several reasons. I have two quotes $8300 and $5500, but I would like to go less expensive, if possible.

I'm in Rock Hill, just south of Charlotte. Does anyone have recommendations?

Thanks in advance..

Jake

I replaced both of my systems (upstairs and downstairs) a little less than a year ago. Swapped both inside units and both outside units with Goodman equipment that carries a lifetime compressor warranty. I also added a zone for the downstairs due to the size of the house and one area of the house the temp was always a little off. The systems work great and the workmanship was even better and the price was even better than that! I had qoutes from $14k - $21k and found WNC Heating and A/C that did it for $7800.

Call this guy.

Trevor.

Tell him Ron from sharon referred you.

He is in Rock hill and the best I've found. And will beat both prices and won't use Goodman junk.

BTW you need to change one number in the phone number but it should be obvious;)

I guess I need to include that I had to replace Trane junk 7 years after building the house. Both systems that were replaced had been serviced every year and had multiple service calls to repair almost every issue that you can come up with. The company that I had replace my systems is a Trane dealer that is not happy with their quality and prices over the past couple years.

Thanks Ron. I'll give him a ring today.

The unit I currently have is a 2 ton Trane, that is about 26 - 30 years old.

Goodman is owned by Daikin. If you know whats covered and have a competent MC/tech, from what I understand, they're lower cost to operate/repair than any residential Trane system.

I would replace with Goodman/Lennox/Rheem over Trane/Carrier. Mainly due to more availability/serviceability. The Goodman advantage is distributors have shitloads of parts on the shelf, so you can get same-day repair on design day conditions for the most part.

I speak from a specification/vendor perspective and NOT a HVAC tech position. They may have a completely DIFFERENT perspective.

Ive started using Tempstar on my rental replacements.
They use older Carrier parts that have been in production for 20+ years and just build a "new" unit that Carrier needed to replace 5 years ago to "get better"

I managed to get the AC working. The plug to the fan was loose, and not making contact. Hopefully, it will survive the summer..

Thanks everyone for the information and suggestions.

I took another recommendation from here, a couple years ago, & went with Air Central of the Carolinas. Their out of Indian Trail, but travel the region. They are a American Standard dealer, which is also a Fine product! They beat all the other quotes I had gotten. Call Vance Breece - 704-882-4371.
