It's a 1984 wagoneer. I got a killer deal on it. It will be the family wheeler. I plan on doing a mild lift with some 31's or 32's. It's already got some worn out 31" BFG AT's on it. Power windows & locks. No motor, 727 auto and I think a 229 t-case. Dana 44 front and AMC 20 rear with 3.31 gears, power brakes, leather/cloth interior, rear defrost, had AC.

Things I need to reassmble to get the jeep driving again:
- Steering column & steering shaft
- 304 motor will be going in it unless I find a deal on a 360
- Steering box (need to get one)
- need side mirrors
- need front bumper

Going to do a spring over, or get some lift springs?

I will probably get some lift springs and keep it kinda simple as far as mods go. I am also thinking about converting the grill to the old style from the 60's.

like this one...

The gladiator front end. I think those look so much meanier then the one you have. Also it isnt hard at all to do it.

LOL...dude... Kathleen must REALLY LOVE you!! :D I need to have her talk with Emily...

Yeah, I don't really like the grill that's on there plus it's broken. The wife doesn't mind my toys too much. LOL.:D She went to the salon for a day! I was going to do a cj project but came across this sweet deal for 175ducks

That is cool, I can drive the Waggy for ya when you are in the CJ, lol!

Sam

nice score. I don't understand how you find time to do all these projects.

I saw on Trucks! TV (with the old host Stacy) where they put the old school grill on a newer waggie. not sure what the 'kit' included, but it came from BJs Offroad out of Georgia.

Thanks, yeah I saw that episode of trucks too. That's what made me want to do the old style grill.

Well the jeep is done and is the way I want it so the waggy is my new project. I usually get a few days a week that I can work on vehicles for 4 or 5 hours each day. Usually wednesdays after work if you wanna wrench.

Looks like you just grind off a few tabs & add a little paint. I've heard that cj headlights and bezels will work.

I like it!!

I had two '79 Chero Chiefs in high school.....beat the crap out of them & they took it again & again!! The two fires were another story!!

Good luck!
Doc

I got it in High Point from mlc here on the board. Super nice guy. Thanks again for the beers Mike!

I know you said mild lift, but I did a spring over on the front and a shackel flip in the back and got just over 7 inches of lift for a couple bucks. Could probably squeeze 35's on it if it still had a wagoneer body but it is long gone. I love the old grill idea. I went older and I am cramming a '53 willys wagon onto the grands running gear.

Looks like a good find. If you trim the fenders you can run 32s on the stock wheels with out a lift. The fire problem they had usaly came from the ampmeter over heating. The simple fix is to remove the wires from the studs on the back of the ampmeter and hook them both on the same stud. This takes the load off the ampmeter ( real good idea if you upgrade to a higher output alt. ) As for the steering box you can use one off an S10 but I cant remember the years right off.

sweet sweet

If you need parts for your GW, we have just about everything you need. Located 45 miles east of Asheville in Burnsville. PM for more info.

I have a '78 Cherokee 4 dr that I am parting out if you need some parts. I am using the steering box for my Commando, but everything else is up for grabs 360, dana 44s, etc. It has the "razor" grille, and i know where to get 4 or 5 of the rhino grilles.
Let me know.

Cool, how can I get my hands on a rhino grille?

Cleaned up the inside yesterday...few more pics.

If you haven't already, check out ifsja.org. They're one of the best Full Size Jeep communities on the web.

The gladiator grill setup can be found on ebay. You used to be able to find deals on them until that episode of trucks. After that, prices went crazy. It's been a while, so maybe they're back to normal, I haven't looked in a while.

Jeff

Yep, I like that site. I saw a gladiator grille on ebay but it's already up to $185!! with 3 days left. Maybe I'll just keep the grille I have.

Thanks for the offer. I'm planning on heading out to DH Griffen to get some metal to build one. Maybe some heavy C-channel or box tubing with some D rings.
