I got ticketed at uwharrie yesterday. looking for some incite.

I figured out the problem.

You've had two threads asking for "incite". The definition of incite is: To encourage or stir up (violent or unlawful behavior). To urge or persuade (someone) to act in a violent or unlawful way.

What you should really be asking about is insight: the capacity to gain an accurate and deep intuitive understanding of a person or thing.

So there lies the issue. Mnemonics are a bitch. Just pay it and stay away from incite....and incest, for that matter.

We saw him hanging around the double parking lot Sat afternoon. The place was very busy. A LOT of motorcycles/atvs/SxS's.

Sucks about the ticket. I make sure to have my trail pass/registration/insurance stuff with me at all times.

I didn't even know there was popo out there. The few times I went last year I'm glad there wasn't. Just saying...

That guy was being a full on prick saturday. Buddy of mine blew a steering line and while we were waiting on him go get the part from the truck the guy absolutely antagonized us to death trying to find us doing something wrong. Guy sucks, honestly makes me wanna steer away from going back to ure

Ive only seen him acouple times out of 8 years of going the last time i saw him i was on my dual sport and he was being a total prick by stoping and starting going down the main road trying to get me to go arounde i think so he could pull me but i just pulled into the camp ground and he circled that camp like 20 times looking for me

it's called a show of force. go out and throw the book at people, word gets spread through social media and forums like this and the rangers can cruise for a while and just let the fear of getting ticketed keep people straight.

The female ranger informed several members of our group that Foote was being ruthless.

Dude thinks the badge is a crown, granted the LEO presence has benefits of maybe intimidating the drunks to stay in the forest... but they are too lazy to actually patrol the trails where they need to be. They just sit in the parking lot and look for bad tags... Its a shame. I truthfully see no benefit to having them "patrolling" if that's what your gonna call it.

Agreed 100%. If you're going to be a true Ranger, don't be a douche mall cop and sit in the same spot where you won't spill your coffee just so you can hassle people just as their arriving/departing after a long drive there or a long day in the trails. That makes URE look especially bad for "out of towners."

Show your presence in the trails, where you can enforce the laws that are clearly broken often in congested areas, and also aid in safety or any emergency situations.

I would really like to see them on 4hweelers or SxS's at the congested trail areas; 1st ledge of Daniel, top of Daniel, 1 good climb at Dickey Bell, ect. This would deter any of the illegal bypasses, which seems to be the #1 issue that many of the members here have to fix on the work days. Would also reduce a lot of the alcohol and littering you see in the trails.

My $0.02.

Same as we used to discuss all the time, the rangers wanted a nice rubicon TJ to patrol the trails and wanted the 4x4 community to donate it.
Its a damn joke. They have plenty of great equipment capable of patrolling the trails, but they don't want to leave the comfort of the SUV's to do their job.
It was discussed a bunch back in the day about getting an actual wheeler or wheelers to have the popo ride along and do patrols. Also discussed just giving the rangers job to a good old boy wheeler who would love to be out on the trails on a 4 wheeler or sxs all day.

Patrolling the roads doesn't do any good. You wanna do some good, sit at the top of daniel. We had to go back to help a buddy broke on the upper rocks and there was no less than 20 drunk guys screaming and hollering, singing gay pop country, you get the idea.

I'm not totally against patrolling the service roads, but only sitting at the parking areas like a vulture isn't doing any good or giving them a good rep. I've never even seen a Ranger at the campgrounds. They are federally funded, how can they not afford a rhino or two?! Yes having someone donate a TJ Rubi is overstretching. A small lift 31" tire XJ is more up their alley. Can haul more people and gear and MUCH cheaper. Plus they were issued to rangers across the country while still in production. Surely they can get one that's sitting elsewhere and not being used.

Donating and maintaining a mildly built XJ was the plan if I recall correctly. They weren't interested.
They have a sxs (Mule or whatever?) but choose not to use it because its uncomfortable from what I recall. There was a long list of reasons they couldn't do anything productive.
Like I said, I see no problem with them patrolling the service roads some... but to sit in the parking lot is a joke.

For example. Several of our guys don't have tags on their rigs (The OP is my little brother) and throughout the weekend I got texts from other wheelers saying "FS at DP" or something to that extent.
For the most part it worked out, while they were writing tickets at the Double Parking lot we convoyed 10-15 rigs deep down the gravel road to Cottonplace from RML.

Sorry to hear that you got fined, that sucks! BUT, sounds like it's 100% legit so, (as others have said) I would just pay it, you won't get anywhere trying to fight it.

I personally am glad to have a law enforcement presence at Uwharrie, it would have been shut down a LONG time ago without them there.

As for patroling the trails, I am sure they would like to be able to (have heard it said that they would) BUT, the government does not provide vehicles capable of doing so- they are issued merely SUVs and stock 1/2 ton pickups out at Uwharrie. (Ford Explorer, Chevy Silverado 1500, and Ram 1500 and the only law enforcement and ranger vehicles I have ever seen out there, and have talked with them before and they wish they were provided more capable vehicles) I have had nothing but pleasant interactions with all the law enforcement and rangers I have encountered whilst at Uwharrie, and am happy to have them there!!!

As for donating a vehicle, I am not sure that would work- I'd wager that if the officer/ranger was injured whilst driving a non-government issued vehicle, they would be fired. I think the vehicle would have to go through quite a bit of federal approval before they were allowed to use it without potential consequences in a worst case scenario.

Edit: yes, they do have a Mule (or something in the way of an SxS) but, if I recall it is a completely stock 2wd so, good luck trying to patrol the trails for 8+ hours a day in that!

If someone had gone down the road in an unregistered non street legal jeep and killed someone people would be calling for the park to be shut down. They are practicing CYA and it makes sense to do so.

If you break the law then you risk getting a citation. No matter how "stupid" people may think the law is. If the Rangers weren't out there the park wouldn't exist.

Also as far as legal help, I imagine this would be what the attorneys response would be.

Lol sorry I really overuse that link
