The wife and I were on a shopping trip down at Concord Mills. Well let me clarify she was shopping and I was the pack mule. Anywho, we went into Ruby Tuesday’s for a bite to eat. As we were sitting there, a group of coaches for a youth softball team were in the bar drinking shots then proceed to load the team up and head down the road. We were like really?!?!? WTF!! if one of my kids were in that group I would be more than pissed.

Cant imagine the rationale, guess th wife and I are old.

That’s an example of why I believe pay to play ball is joke. I’d be hot leaving my kid(s) and entrusting their care to someone that has one drink, much less pounding them back.

I guess the worse part is the girls were all standing around waiting on them to clink their glasses and throw back multiple shots. Pretty bad examples if you ask me.

i call this knocking the edge off

Wow!

I used to drink a good bit, socially, not a every day thing by no means. I quit. well mostly, a beer or two every year or two is about it, except for the one time, the "shine" got to me on a wheelin trip. But I didn't drive, friends wouldn't let me! (Very good friends I will add) I have three kids, only one of them has ever seen me drink anything, and that was just a couple of beers. No way I'd EVER put any kid in my care if I had even had a single beverage.

Alcohol should be illegal.

Yeah I’d not have been able to keep my mouth shut for that shit probably... there’s a time to drink shots and when kids are being towed around, under your protection and your responsible for them to make it home safe is not that time! I must be old too but then again I was raised to respect others lives even if you put yourself in danger on occasions!

I'm sort of with him on this. Sort of.
After all alcohol IS the gateway drug, not marijuana, not opioids. Alcohol.
I love to drink as much as anyone else, but alcohol and responsibilities never go hand-in-hand.

This is why I believe the BAC limit should be zero. Removes any gray area. ...
yeah... except hat the ethanol level in your blood is rarely ever actually ZERO. lots of things lead to trace amounts. It will always be grey, where you have to draw an arbitrary line somewhere.
Fun fact - sleep deprivation and stress both lead to driving performance as bad as or worse than current legal BAC levels.

The point stands though that these guys are douchebags.

Last week there was a send-off party for a coworker who is leaving, at a local bar. Started at 4pm. I had Scouts at 7pm.
I have 1 beer, made sure I was done by 5:30 and then ate dinner, and was still paranoid that if I showed up with the smell of anything on my breath I'd give a bad impression.
You don't fuck around when working with kids, your own or other people's.

I coach travel baseball, I wouldn't touch a drink around any of my boys if they were in the car with me. Now, we do have team dinners out at places and I'll have a beer or two, but this is with the parents who are also having a beer or two.

After baseball tournaments I save my heavy drinking till I get home.

On your first point, have you ever had you BAC checked while out driving perfectly fine and legal? I've never had a BAC test in my entire life because they've never had a reason to be suspicious of it.

I wholeheartedly agree with your second point. Being the foolish absolutist that I like to be sometimes, distracted or poor driving should be punished regardless of cause or intent. There are plenty of well slept, stress free, sober drivers that should be removed from the road due to incompetency.

Yes for a job interview. Blew a .008. Hadn't drank in like 4 days. The tester said anything below .015 was statistical noise.

Yep. Multiple times.
It dosnt help to live in Cary as a long haired scruffy dude, and some cops don't seem to understand that nystagmus can be a normal (well, not drug induced) physiological condition.

Yup that's about right. Normal physiological variance can be +/- 0.01 or more, and a breathalyzer has about precision around .005 or so
