BBT is messing me up with fees... so i am done with them... i don't want to bank with anyone with bail outs. So no BofA or wachovia, i don't 5/3rd either they have to many fees. So anyone know a good local bank that won't fee me to death?

BBT has been wonderful for years with me. Whats going on with the fees? Maybe its a user issue? :D

Stay away from Wachovia! They screwed over my wife on $35 and it was their fault. They refused to refund the $35... We have since moved to BBT and loved it :)

find a local credit union

The only thing with local banks is finding an ATM when you go somewhere that isnt local. One of my friends has this problem constantly and always takes the charge when he uses another ATM.

I have Wachovia, their services havent suffered any, and they have ATM's everywhere as far as NC and the surrounding area are concerned. Never been screwed by them either...

Any Bank of Granite's around you? They are supposed to be a good local bank. Maybe look at RBC.

I bank with SECU (State employee's credit Union)
Keep $25 in savings, no fee's
Free Checking
Free ATM (Cash Points)
Online banking
Direct deposit

Probably a lot more, but so far so good.

Whats with cash points? Is it free for everyone or just SECU people?

Ditto for me going on 15 years now

F#@$ all banks! Let those mother f'ers die a slow and painful death! Use a credit union. Banks are just as criminal as insurance companies. (As is evident by the news).

Wachovia has been great to me. Used to use First Charter but since they changed to 5/3 I switched. Also helps my aunt is a branch mgr so I don't get nickeled and dimed and if I do it is promptly removed. No complaints from me though.

Free is what I used to think also, but BB&T charged me fees when I used Cash Points...I'm still with BB&T and they are all over the Southeast for ATMS which is cool...but they have frustrated me with some of their fees...work with your local branch office...sometimes they can remove charges that the BB&T Wilson corporate office automatically charges...probly all the big banks are the same...remember with everything being automated, the local branches need your help with the customer services to ensure they are still needed in the Big Scheme of things...

SECU is probably a great option if available to you...just not as convenient for me right now or I would probly be there...

same here ive had bbt for two years just went by there today to get some shit straight im going tomorrow to open another account at another bank. :fuck-you: bb&t

Coastal Federal Credit Union, have been with them since 2002, and have had no issues at all.

We opend the account and then applied for a car loan with in 5 minutes, appoved and at a decent low interest rate. ( wasn't able to do anything with CCB, and was fee'd for small stupid stuff )

Coastal is growing and has their own ATM network, but I use CashPoints a lot, after the 5th ATM trans action on a NON CFCU ATM, you are charged a $1 fee, except at Cash Points it seems. loan rates are reasonable, checking ( GoGreen ) pays interest if you use you ATM/debit card at least 12 times a month ( which isn't a problem between my wife and myself, we hardly carry cash anymore )

CFCU will allow anyone, you don't have to have a sponsoring employer or group.

I'm surprised to hear so much crap about BBT. I've been doing business with them for the last 14 years and never had a problem. They refund me "fees" that are MY mistake and have free checking, savings, etc. etc. Even got me a fantastic rate on my mortgage and an even better rate on my refi. I highly recommend BBT.

Here`s another for credit union. Consolidated Federal Credit Union. Been with them several years and never a problem. I`ve never seen this credit union. Everything is handled on-line or over the phone. They are located in Seneca, SC with the main branch in Oregon. I signed on when I worked for Freightliner.

CFCU - Rocks.

Cash Points is a network of ATM's that the small banks put together so they could compete with the large banks like BBT and Wachovia.

CFCU - hooked me up on a cashiers check. I was closing on a house and borrowing against a 403B. Due to the timing of the holidays my 401K check wasn't going to show up in time to clear. I went to the local branch and asked for the manager. I explained the situation. He asked to see the paper work on the 401K loan and my bank account number. He looked things over and looked things up. I had a firm committment on the day the check would arrive. He told me he would not be there but to come in and ask for the lady that would be working. I walking in the door on that morning - and asked for her. The lady on the floor asked me if I was Mr. So&So - I told her yes - she told me I was expected and ushered me to an office. I handed over the endorsed check when the Asst. Mgr asked. Five minutes later the certified check was in my hand.

You can't beat that kind of service.

2 months ago after getting screwed on the interest rate change because of the other deadbeats - I got a credit card from them at better interest rate.

Cash points does not charge fees. But your bank may. Your best bet is to check with your individual bank. Alot of times they will charge you for not using the bank ATM.
That's why banks suck a$$!
