Now thats pretty interesting. Thats the kind of thing I'm looking for.
Without having a roll bender it might look something like this if I build it.

Depending on the angle of the rear, and tire size, could probably make it work pretty well and do a tire carrier back there. Glad to help. Look forward to seeing the end result.

without a ton of bracing, i would expect this to fold if it flopped.
 
Thats what I'm worried about. I think it could really look cool but just not easy to brace adequately without being too busy.
 
I ended up with a stock roll-bar. just added some bars to connect to a yj windshield, some bracing over my head. A-pillars, seat mounts, and a bar across the back for the seatbelts.

i like the idea of making it look more like the later YJ and TJ cages, but all the cj-5's i have seen built like that look short(er).







i'm really liking the lines on the one funkskunk posted.
 
Yea making a four seat style cage on a cj5 just isn't a nice look to me, especially with a stretched wheelbase. They tend to look like the cab on a big tractor.

I've got some pretty good ideas in my head now of what I'll do so hopefully in a few weeks I'll be started on it and can post a few pictures. Thanks for all the help and ideas guys I hope you don't mind me using some of them.
