FYI....I got a scam/phishing/blackmail email today.

In the email, they had one of the passwords I use a (very) few places.

I use several different passwords, some not-so-strong for forums, storefronts, etc, some stronger, some really complex (banking, etc). The one in the scam email is a pretty weak one I used starting years ago on a half-dozen forums, likely several of those sites are common to other NC4x4 users. (Pirate, Garage Journal, M715Zone, NC4x4, Whiteblaze). Maybe also a couple of other forums long since forgotten and/or defunct, but that's the only use of that password I have found in my browser's password file.

Just to be safe, if you are on one or more of those sites, I'd maybe update your password.

Btw, you're into some weird porn

Yeah, got the same one today. Password I used on a forum vertical scope purchased

Forgot about the asswipes at vertical scope. They're probably the ones sending the emails.

So...did you send in the seven hunnert bucks? :)

Any new scam shenanigans in relation to Craigslist? Granted, not a login site.
I'm baffled that the typical scammers haven't gotten more creative as time goes on.

Internet security in general has increased dramatically since the early 2000's. Many of the exploits and techniques that used to work do not any more and the internet browsers detection of such sites is far superior than it used to be. It can still be done but it takes a ton more effort than previously. Most of the new stuff relies more on you choosing to install stuff and using the installed software to achieve the display of fake pages requesting a login.. or just faking the whole displayed page and or application. If you don't think it's a legitimate page, close it out and reopen it. Some pages rely on you misspelling the site name.. facebooj.com, faceboik.com, etc.. but those sites likely don't live very long before they get taken down.

Hell no! Momma always said that if you had an offer you KNOW would make you money not to SEND money!

I mean hells bells, they're gonna make me FAMOUS

BTW...even though they had an old password I was familiar with, I knew it was bogus once I saw "webcam" and "strange pr0n"

#1 I don't have ANY device with a webcam (not counting the phone because my phone is in NO WAY linked to my email) and all the laptops had the camera taped over with a sliver of post-it note, then taped, then electrical taped prior to even activating the system
#2 I don't watch strange pr0n. I stick to boring ole beastiality and family guy pr0n
