With your mom at a nice seafood dinner
Every holiday it seems that the family wants to get together and have a big meal. I'm all for that. Both my parents and in-laws can throw out a pretty good spread. However, I do not like ham. That's right dammit! I said it, I don't like ham. It's not the meat portion, it's the chewy, nasty, squeegy, stringy fat that holds it together (I can't believe we don't have a :puke: smilie).

So tell me I'm wrong. Tell me there's nothing like chewing on a greasy rubberband to complete the meal. It's gross and I don't like it.

Just to clarify, I love bacon. It's fried and the crispy, connective goodness is like butter and melts in my mouth :flipoff2:

I don't like anything fatty when it comes beef, pork or chicken when dinner time rolls around. I feel gyped when I eat a steak and I cut half of it away due to fat content. I understand it 'adds' flavor, I just don't like chewing on it.

I found this awesome invention called a knife. It is a big sharp piece of metal that you hold in your hand and use in a sawing motion. I've found that it works fantastic at cutting the fat off of my ham and removing it from my plate.

I'm not sure where you can find one of these fine inventions, but I'm sure someone here knows where to look.

much like the beloved rainbow trout. if the trout sees a fly and realizes that it will take more energy to go after it then what it will receive out of it, it will let it pass by.

marinate on that.

You my friend have never had a honeybkd ham with the brown-suagr, cinnamy goodness that is the outside....

^^^I'm pretty sure I'm the only person to have ever disliked honey baked ham, if not...I'm the only one to ever admit to it. While it is some good meat, I much prefer a bold taste with a hint of spiceyness when it comes to meat. I'm not a sweet meat kinda guy.

BTW...pretty sure there are couple sentences someone would love to take out of context there.

not a fan of ham either.

I understand why jews and muslims refuse to eat it.

i make exceptions for bacon.

You're not alone. No honey baked [insert your favorite meat here] for me either.

the HBH is just trying to entice you into eating the fat. It's like, "Hey man, I'll give you some brown sugar if you promise to make sacrifices." yeah what kind city ham? "the kind where I tempt you in with my sweetness but I still make you eat my squeegy fat." Oh....

I'd rather have some saltiness like country ham. Yes, there is a difference. Once again, the fat is rendered down and is less present. Plus it's so easy to eat. Just pull it apart and it's ready to go.

damn the fat....love sirloins, hate rib-eyes - for that very same reason.

I order a 12-oz steak, I expect to be able to eat at least 11-oz w/o fat.

Some hams are great, the fatty ones stay off my plate.

If you're really in the mood to argue abou fatty meat, you should pony up for a diamond and enter the Garage.

Ya, it cut me when I watched it too. I've cut my self down to meat once a week, been doing this for 2 months now. I've lost some weight & I feel like I have more energy. Some of these veggie & fruit dishes are pretty delicious.

Im with you on this one. I don't like ham either.

Nuthin worse than trying to eat a ham sandwich and bitting into a nasty piece of gristle.
