I’m looking at picking up a YJ. Does not come with a soft or hard top. I found a used hardtop I like but the m wondering what I need to consider for mounting the top.

The tub has holes around the tub, and I need to check the windshield frame.

I assume there’s a gasket around the tub as there is at the windshield?

I’m thinking about just installing some rivet nuts in the tub to mount the top to the tub. Is there anything I need to watch for, be aware of, or other options that are better easier?

Does the hardtop come the mounting hardware? If so it's a no brainer. The tub bolts come with backing anchors and the windshield has latches

TJs have the latches, my old YJ used sheet metal screws across the windshield.

If the hardtop doesn't have the tub bolts, these should work. Mine had torx head bolts with the nut plates but the thumb screws would be easier.

If the Jeep had a soft top on it you'll have to remove the windshield header channel and the tub rails before you put the hard top on.
