I've always heard that's why they call it an International, because that's where you'll be looking for parts. :D

I have nothing helpful to add. Good luck with it. Hope you find what you need.

Theres a dude in Knoxville TN that has/had a bunch of scouts and talked like he had a stash of parts. He had a nice restored 800.If you cant find anything local let me know and Ill try to find his card.I missed a 800 pick up about three years ago that still had the air force base name painted on the side, all original all the way down to the pto winch. It was tied up in a dirty estate settlement and wound up at the crusher.

The 80's or 800's not so much but if your gonna build a Scout II you've gotta have a a dozen of em to get enuf good parts to fix one.

Bummer to hear about old iron going to the crusher out of spite.

That sucks.. I found one that's been in storage for years. No rust, runs and drives for cheap.... kicker is its missing a door, tailgate and rear window.
See if you can find that guys information. I'd already got it but I don't wanna end up spending double what I pay for the whole thing on a door

Call my buddy Daniel at retro designs. He's got a bunch of them sitting around that were used for parts on projects he's built.
He's here in Concord a few minutes from my shop.

glad to hear yours is in good shape. I had a '65 Scout 80 and ended up selling it mid-resto due to how much I was spending on parts.
Well I haven't got it yet. I know parts are expensive and figured the body pieces were gonna be pricey if I could find them. If I can find all the pieces for a decent price I'll get it and drive it while I save up to do the rest of the resto work

what the shit

A friend in TN that is now on NAXJA was into the scouts for a while. He has a few and I believe is working on a tow rig for his XJ. His nick on NAXJA is Pacific Ed. IDK what he has but he would know a source for stuff I'm sure.

If you're gonna do a scout, there are actually quite a few places to get parts, but local to NC is going to be a bit of a problem for you.

Start out with www.binderplanet.com for a user forum with lots of info. Also check out the South East Binders Association sub forum of Binder Planet to find Scout owners close to you.

I buy a fair number of used parts from ScoutCo Products, Scoutco Products but he's much closer to me than you, the owner, Mike is a great guy, too.

Other great sources for parts I use;

Scout Parts! Super Scout Specialists, Inc. Home Page www.ihscout.net
IH Parts America
Isa's International Harvester

IH's are more expensive to build than Jeeps, and Scout 80/800s more so than Scout II's. But they are cheaper to build than EBs and Early FJs...

Anything fun or cool is expensive. I'm not wanting to get to crazy with this though make a fairly stock vehicle to cruise around in.

Well, if the driveline is good already, they do make a a pretty good run around vehicle, and tune up parts are still easy to come by, it's odd ball crap that will drive you nuts, like windsheild wipers and the air filter that no one stocks anymore, also, you'll burn up the stock fuel pump pretty quick with ethanol fuel, so plan on switching that over to a universal electrc before long... But once it's done and running, they really don't cost much to keep running...

This one is running off a bottle right now. So probably the pump which isn't a big deal. And needs break work. I'm assuming that it's drums all the way around with manual breaks so not to bad either if I can find parts

Yeah, it's gonna be drum all around. not hard to upgrade the front to Disc though, It's the same Dana 30 found in CJs (unless it was ordered with a D44, which was an option).

For a fuel pump I've been using the Spectra Premium from Autozone. Life time guarantee and works great, I'll dig up the part number for you if get the Scout.
