International's new Lonestar model

reminds me of that movie where to trucks/machinery go crazy and the leader of them has the evil clown face on the front...

Maximum Overdrive...EMILIO!!!!

thats sick, haha... makes me wanna be a truck driver but i'd probably brutally murder the first person to put a scratch on it....

the new rigs require emissions shit like with the newer "normal" diesel trucks?

yeah, the EPA mandated a much lower allowable level for particulate matter emissions for HD truck engines manufactured after 01-01-2007. Most (I want to say all) class 8 trucks use a diesel particulate filter (DPF) to filter out the soot. The sulfur in diesel fuel somehow clogs DPFs, that's why we have ULSD (500ppm is now 15ppm sulfur). Just wait til 2010 when the EPA tackles NOx emissions

thats nuts... so no more LEGAL straight piped diesels.... makes me sad... nothing like hearing an 18 wheeler with some 8" stacks roar by you on the hwy, hehe

maximum overdrive was filmed here in NC
Part of it was filmed in/near Burlington. There used to be an old gas station and Waffle/Huddle house just off I40/85, on the service rd. I think all that has been demolished, shortly after,to make way for something new.(IIRC) Thats been a long time ago. Great movie.

^^The main gas station scenes were filmed in wilmington(the parts where the actors were inside station and most other scenes.

All the outside scenes(at the gas station) were at the Burlington location. again..IIRC

Now I got that killer AC/DC tune stuck in my head.......Who made who? Who made you?

I just can't wait to see how the uriea(sp?) tanks work out for 2010. One more thing for drivers to never check.

For the spelling challenged, marketing is calling it DEF (Diesel Emissions Fluid, but everyone else is using the chemical name urea. Don't worry about forgetting to check it, in addition to flashing lights and buzzers, the truck will probably be programmed to not run right with an empty urea tank. And who knows who's picking up the satellite signal broadcast from the truck. I'm pretty sure there's an OBD requirement for US10 too.

You gotta love this emission crap  Its just more stuff to go wrong. Hell my truck now is a '05 KW T-800 w' an ISX cummins and the damn EGR is always acting up on it. I would hate to have a new truck with the DPF and crap. I sure would miss the rumble of the cummins through 7" stacks.

Maximum Overdrive was a badass movie for sure!

I expect the engine will derate if the urea tank runs empty, and maybe shut down after a specified amount of time. The engine will derate on the US07 models if the DPF does not go through the regeneration process and the back pressure in the exhaust system reaches a specified limit.

I can do without it.. especially when they are delivering construction equipment in the neighborhood at 6am.

I was in Black Dog... me and my dad happened to be walking by when they were doing one of the scenes in the diner.

Another classic trucker movie!
