I called a couple of buddies who own other businesses...everyone said they were glad I called, they weren't sure if their phone worked. We haven't been this slow in 20 years, anyone elses business really feeling the effects of this economy? The only friends I have who are doing pretty well all own bars. Guess peeps are drowning their sorrows.

Not me - but I work for the government. No matter how little there is to do, people here will always have a job of some sort. lol.

I think everyone is feeling the squeeze. My pop's hasnt been to excited being he works for wachovia (or should i say citigroup?).

we've been slow on the construction/renovation side of things... (plumbing business). service work is still there though, stuff doesn't stop breaking for the economy, lol.

My businesses are holding fairly steady. Monday sucked at both places. I turned off the news in the restaurant, it seemed to be depressing everyone.

busy as hell

same here, we are not selling too many new air compressors, so the old ones are tearing up non-stop. A lot of people are choosing to put cheaper oil in thier compressors and this is not helping. For some reason they do not want to spend $80 a gallon for oil for thier machines that take 30 gallons of oil.
Not to mention my service territory has doubled in the last year.

Dont any of you grease monkeys ruin your carpets.lol

These times are tough as woodpecker lips for us in the housing industry.

No new const. some remodeling. lots of riding around quoting to home owners that are daydreaming, so it seams.

Furniture suuuuccckkksssss!

I want a quote.
Not gonna do anything, but quotes are fun

(sorry, mother in law was throwing a fit about that very thing last night too. She's in the flooring business, and was complaining about people that ask for a quote, then say, "well what can you do for 500$, when she just quoted all new floors in a 4000sq ft house.)

As for me I'm busier than hell, but not in a good way. Everyone is looking at their 401k and freaking out. :( so servers are getting crushed. :shaking:

Cell phone buisness here. Verizon. So far it's buisness as usual for me. Seems like phones are the last thing people want to get rid of. Praying it holds up though.

People are still getting sick and the gov't is still paying for it. Things are just as busy as ever here.

^^^Feelin the pain with her. Went to a house the other day. I measured for 45 min.
12 ft wide cpt scenario-15ft wide cpt scenario-hardwood scenario-hardwood here..cpt there scenario. Then they said ''well, if we ever get any loot we have an idea of what it will cost''. 30 min drive there and back=gas/time. 45 min measuring=time/calculator batteries(lol) hearing them say what they said = WTF?

I'm in the computer business...in the past couple of years, I've pared down from 30+ business clients to 6, and 80 hours a week down to under 40, on purpose. I needed to slow down a bit.

Only problem is, the clients I kept, all but one are in some way in the construction industry. :( Slooooowwwwww....they are fixing stuff...but I depend on doing a larger project every quarter or so for one client or another. They aren't doing any voluntary or "want to" projects. Most are wanting to leave web sites stagnant to save $$. I'm looking to pick some others up/back up. :(

People are always buying formalwear. This time of year it is normal for us to be a little slow, but we are still up. We always set a goal for ourself at the start of the year to be up X%. This year we said we just wanted to be even with last year, but so far we are up a fair amount.

Most definetly. Not Melissa and I, as long as people keep having babies in hospitals and they keep doing the #2, we're good:D.

All my friends that have auto related jobs have been layed off in the past month or their garages are REALLY slow. Construction is the same around here, its really depressing.

I'm being sure to keep all my junk locked up. Keep forgetting to get some locking gas caps though.

I work for a car and home audio shop. The home and commercial buisness is wide open. Car side is way way down. Ive been surprised though as this has been a decent week for us. Usually we are slow this time of year anyway. Well see what happens when mid november rolls around, last year is was workin 70 hour weeks. I hope i can again this year, i need the cash!

Not me, almost over night we became the only Canon(liscensed) Copier service center in winston. Im 2-3 days behind in service calls, ive caught up from being a week behind!

our competitors have been bought out recently by the manufacturers, so the doors are wide open for us to make a bnch of money in the coming quarters.

Truck sales are down at Volvo, but thanks to the 2010 EPA regulations I am stilling working OT designing the new stuff.

My girlfriend is busy as heck. There is a shortage of people in her field. She leaves for work an hour before me and gets home after me most days.

We have been slow up front in the restaurant section, losing our Friday/Saturday night crowd. The bar has been holding us together, although it helps that the town is still in a craze over lifting the liquor-by-the-drink ban.

as long as you gotta sh!t or bath my business ( really my brothers ) wll be ok... when there is sewer running in the floor you find a way to get your tank pumped... however i am quitting and opening a offroad shop very soon. i understand this is not a great time to be going into business so we will see how it goes
