Is it just me or does anyone else think when someone is talking about their 2004 Chevy/Ford/Dodge/Buick/Schwinn I immediately think that is not that old at all, but then I realize that was 13 years ago!

Im the same way, but then again, all of my vehicles are older than I am...

Na you're not alone them 90s ford trucks and the original z71 seems like it was yesterday. We used to load a reg cab full, we would look like a pack a Mexicans headed to the beach 8 or 10 deep.

I talk about my 2005 Duramax like it's new. It's the newest vehicle I've ever owned, is that sad?

I treat my 2000 excursion like its brand damn new... New to me is the same as new as far as I am concerned.

I have no car loans or anything though. So oh well.

I regard anything built after my hs graduation year (2004) to be "new". The older I get the more untrue that is. The newest vehicle I've owned out of 26 or so is an '05.
:flipoff2:
But it does go with saying that from the late 90s up through the mid 2000s we saw the most epic boom in automotive history so there's a damn good reason to keep em rolling.

Same here. Pretty much anything after about 2000 seems like it was just a little while ago.
Then I have to stop and think, no, wait my son came several years later, and he's in middle school now. There are whole new automotive technologies that have become the old standard since then.

I feel like I'm stuck in 95 7.3s were plentiful and Kurt cobain just been killed.

I can't get over the amount of people that would still make PAYMENTS on a 2004.

If a couple or 3 brown bands want cover an 04 I'm out.

I just got to the point where 1996 feels like a decade ago and early/mid 2000's were just a couple years back. I'm terrible with time in general though, pretty regularly I'll say a few weeks/months back...and the wife will remind me it was already a year or two ago.

I mentioned Bob Ross for some reason today in class......nobody had a clue. High schoolers these days!?!....

And for some reason. Lifestyle, crashes, racing dirt bikes, sports......I feel every bit 41. Not gonna lie about wondering how 50 plus will be.

Nope, because my 02 Duramax is the newest I've ever had! I was 12 when it rolled out of the plant.

I think our minds are tricked at the 2000-whatever. Many of us spent Years in the 1900s.
I'm Old enough! But it feels Worse, talking to someone about a vehicle or subject, & suddenly realize They weren't Born then! :huggy:

I was talking about this thread to my wife, and started thinking about Back to the Future. It was 1985, and he was going back 30 years to 1955. I watched that as a teenager thinking "Holy crap....BACK to 1955?!?!? that was like FOREVER ago" and now I sit, like I said, facing a 30 yr reunion being planned for 2020 (which....in MY mind 2020 sounds like light years AWAY and it's only 2-1/2 years!!!) and it feels like that was a blink of an eye.

While technology has changed everything...in many ways it's changed very little. I mean, 1955 to 1985 the world changed more than from 1987 to 2017 (IMHO) where things have NOT changed so drastically. Yeah, we had some fashion disasters in the late 80's to overcome, but cars haven't really changed that much (appearance-wise) in the last 30 as opposed to the previous 30. Look at a 1987 honda accord 4-door, and look at a 2017 honda accord 4 door.

Then look at a 1955 chevy truck, and a 2017 chevy truck.
