J2000 help

Hey all, I’m the owner of that 69 J2000. Wanted to say thanks for the information. I’ll be having it running by this week or next!

Brake lines have been redone, need to pop on front drums, and the fuel tank/sending unit/straps that I got from Welcome to BJ's Off-Road - Full-Size Jeep Specialist and Enthusiast Store and figure out about the carb. I think after cleaning it should be okay but I’ll probably need a bowl gasket. I have very limited knowledge on this truck and information is scarce.

Story of it: It’s a three (four now) owner truck, when it was bought new it was used as a farm truck in VA until the mid 90’s, that’s when owner 2 bought and parked it, then owner 3 bought and parked it for a restoration but found a project he wanted more and sold it to me. ($1250 if curious). Currently all I’ve bought for it are temporary a/s tires so that the dry rotted ones; circa 1992, don’t explode on me to get it home.

It’s a 3 speed granny, 4wd works, looks like it’s single barrel carb (I’m trying to figure out if I need to upgrade the manifold to increase the barrels) AMC 232 Inline 6. Dana 44/Dana 53.

Any and all knowledge/suggestions are appreciated. Thanks! Here is what’s sold me. The dash is entirely intact and all the electronics work on it. I have the center bumper piece, just need to put it back on after cleaning. Floor pans should be easily repaired.

I also have a spare bed to transport down here from seller as well.

Tanner, you have a piece of history there, that front end and two piece bumpers are special. If you take off anything to replace it, keep it and pass it along to people who can use it. Real happy that you got it cheap, that's the best way!. The D44 and 53 are solid axles unless you go real big. I have a 53 under my Willys truck. It's basically the predecessor to the Dana 60. There are Facebook sites for Kaiser Jeeps that also may be able to help. and Hey, my '68 Jeepster trail rig has the same steering wheel and instrument cluster!

It’s a three piece, I’ve got the third in the bed ready to be put on, I planned on taking off the surface rust and keeping them on! Just need to figure out the rear bumper as there’s nothing currently on there. I was wanting to know if I could put 30’s on with any issue instead of the little 15’s. I can hardly find any good tires that are 225/75/15. So I bought a set of a/s phantoms until I get it in off-roading condition to get around town.

Beautiful Jeep. I'd rebuild the carb and put disk brakes on it and drive the shit out of it. I'm sure someone has made a bracket for chevy calipers for those axles. If not I'm sure the people here can do it.

Should When you decide to go with disc brakes... honestly, 1 wet day/near death experience and you will :D
I have multiple sets of Bendix caliper brackets (cast late-70's bolt-on) versus the later model Chevy (stamped)... the other bits like calipers, rotors, hoses, etc. can still be sourced new

Do be carful of the grill an pie pans...I've heard of them getting stolen...I have seen guys keep the drive train stock with no problem... A 78-79 J truck will get you pass drop front open knuckle ,disk drop in 6lug the rear bolt in... Just need a proportioning valve easy to find an install... Go slow on motors a 258 motor common in Jeep is drop in can be build on the dinning room table... Latter in life go all out with motors...Play your cards rights it out live you....
