Jeep Gladiator. Worth the price or overpriced?

3) Unless going the economy vehicle route these days, $40-50k seems to be the going rate to get in anything new.
I'm not sure what you define as an economy vehicle, but I bought a brand new Mazda3, fully loaded, with the bigger 2.5l motor etc for under $20k in October. It's not a chintzy car by any means or what they push as their "cheap" line. Of course that was also end of year w/ discounts etc.
It's SUVs, vans, trucks etc that have gotten ridiculous... because people are willing to pay it (for some idiotic reason). Regular "cars" aren't so bad.
But, this is a 4x4 forum and not-big vehicles are heresy around here :D

With all the buzz, and the fact that so many people are buying Gladiators at these premiums, I imagine Chrysler will dig into its bag of tricks and toss a hemi into this truck in the 3rd year of production (Both to lure existing owners back and because Chrysler has been making BANK off of all of its special option SRT models these days).....this will allow them to really dig into the mid-sized truck market and to start grabbing "best in class blah blah" that they likely can't grab with the pentastar.

I am aware that some dealers are marking these up above msrp, but not all of them. I did not pay a premium. And some dealers are even advertising invoice or below on gladiators. I know I could have waited a couple of months and possibly gotten a lower price, but I chose not to.

I hope you are right about a hemi, because I will be at the dealer trading this one in on a hemi version. That is my only complaint with this truck at all, it could use more power. It is sufficient stock, but adding 37s didn’t help it out.

Manual limits the tow capacity to 4000-4500 lbs. The capacity to tow a decent size camper is what makes the Gladiator attractive to me, so would have to be an auto.

Is it worth it? IMO no, but then again, I don't see any new car or truck "worth" what they are asking for them. It is "Cool" Hell yeah!
With everything that it has from the factory, it is a pretty capable off road vehicle. But who would pay that much and take it off road, other than some moderate wheeling.
Although, from what I have seen from a place that is on my bucket list, It would do quiet well out in Moab, and some other western places.
One thing I see that it's missing, It sure would have been nice if they had fashioned a Rhino type grill on it, just to pay tribute to the gladiator of old.

I just like the removable top aspect

What I'm wondering is if the removable top is as effective as a sliding rear window in transporting every speck of dirt from the bed into the cab of the truck.

Doesn't matter to me either way. I think the gladiator is kinda ugly, and way too long.

Yeah, typical case of reading the headline, not the whole article. What are you, a Trump supporter?

I like them and would get one personally. However the v-6 would probably stop me. I'm holding out for the diesel to see where it falls price wise. Of course I'm about 4 years away from being able to afford one.

Hendrick Dodge has a red one parked out front. The miter cut on the rear doors looks even more out of place in person. The whole vehicle is just so awkward looking.

If you think a JL is worth the money then this is also worth the money. To me both are way overpriced. I'd love to have one but could never justify it. They look great on 37's, awkward at stock.

What specs are different? Just curious.
Admittedly I have always made adjustments until proper preload, pattern and backlash are achieved

Put mine on 35s last week. Rides just fine and no complaints about power. I realize I’m not in my Ram or Challenger

Also for the record I didn’t pay a premium for mine. Just a tad under MSRP. I’ve also owned numerous 1st year vehicles and never had worse issues than with some I’ve owned that were well into the model. Hell my 2015 Ram has now been recalled a total of 7 times in 4 years and been in 3 times for random warranty work. I guess what I’m saying is that you never know what quality is coming off the assembly line.
