Some time in the near future I'm going to build myself a trailer for my heep so I can carry my camp gear and Off road tires to the trail. I have an hold boat trailer frame (john boat) and wanted to use that as my base for the trailer. I plan to just use some ply-wood for the compartments and have a "bed" area for my tires. I will need an axle and springs to fit 35" tires to match my jeep. Has anyone built one of these or have a thread they can point me to?

This is my current project, start with a M101A2 trailer, chop it to a 36x54 deck and cut axle to match WMS-WMS of my narrowtrack CJ.

Frame in progress:

Body (where it's at right now), ready to work in sheet metal:

(downsideup in this picture. it's built mostly of 1x1 14ga tube, with some 1x2 11ga in the mix.)

trailer was a freebie, had a bent/twisted frame, so that's one reason I had to cut it down or scrap it. Right now, with steel for the box, I got about $300 or so in it. Bought the wheels off this board, tires were old ones from my CJ, had to pay for mount and balance. Then about 150 in steel.

cool trailers guys!

How excatly do you get 5 on 5.5" with a custom axle?

EB guys like to weld or bolt d44 spindles to a piece of tube to make an axle, then use the same hubs/outers/tires/wheels as the bronco so that there are two full sets of spares if needed...

I'm sure some trailer supply places sell 5x5.5 axles as well.
