Too all that have contributed, plan to do so,or work at the work days,THANK YOU very much. Uwharrie is very much a sacred place to me, not just because that is my favorite place to wheel, but because of so many memories of good times around the campfire and meeting awesome people. Uwharrie is a very special place to many people.
I think this is a great cause and happy to see people supporting there cause.
I think you touched on a very important part of what Uwharrie is. I enjoy wheeling, but what brings me out to Uwharrie over and over is the camaraderie I have with the people I get to meet/wheel with. The fun I have in-between the time driving is just as important if not more than the fun/relaxing time I have driving. The people you wheel with are just as important as the wheeling you do.
And a big thanks go out to everyone that have participated in the past, and continue to participate in helping volunteer/keep the trails open. Because as we know with Tellico and other places, once the trails close that is it. And while its novel idea that the Forest Service would be able to maintain the trails, and all we would have to do is go out and ride them.
But like just about anything out there that the public uses (roads, parks, etc) it takes volunteers to pick up some of the slack. And in all reality with the minimal staffing and funds Uwharrie has, combined with the increased usage the last couple years we have a lot of slack to pick up. And the Forest Service isn't perfect, they need to better utilize their resources like RTP funds etc to do their part. But what we are concerned with is us, the OHV Community and what we contribute.
And in all reality, our foot is only just barley in the door. This workday can be our opportunity to push the door open and get more involved in how the trail system evolves and changes in the upcoming years. Having everyone come together from all the different clubs, and individuals from all over, to bring out heavy equipment and work and entire weekend speaks volumes about our commitment. It can lead the way to getting our voice heard that much more in how things play out in the future.
And so far just between TTJ and TJC we are all ready near the $450 mark. It says a lot about their commitment to keeping Uwharrie open to donate the money they are coming up with. And I won't neglect to mention a good number of the other clubs that haven't donated yet have done a lot in the past to help keep the trails open. And its also greatly appreciated. But lets keep moving forward, and see how quickly we can raise the money with the help of all the clubs and individuals that are willing to help. Because before you know it summer will be here and the June work weekend will be here.
