Just another typical TJ project!

I hope you have better luck with those 2.2 shocks than i did,i had my lift on for about three weeks before i took it wheeling and the seals busted in one of the rears shortly after that one of the fronts did the same thing, i ordered my lift directly from Rough Country so they were matched to the lift i called and e-mailed them several times before i got a reply and they never would replace them because according to them i must have abused them offroad,im running skyjacker shocks now with the Rough Country spring and it rides and handles better than it ever did even with the Swamper TSL's hopefully you wont have any problems with yours.

That looks sweet! I've got an 01 TJ (same color as yours) with a 6" RC lift and 35 x 12.50 x 15 BFG mud terrains. I think its too tall and I'd like to drop it down. Do you have any rubbing issues with a 4" lift? Was considering the RE 4.5" long arm but its more $$$ than I have to spend right now.

Thanks for the info! I've run run RC lifts in my last three jeeps and never had any issues. This is my first experience with the 2.2 the issue I see is the rear shocks are about a half inch short so they are the limits in the rear. I don;t plan to go dukes of hazzard with it so it shouldn't be an issue.

Haven't wheeled this one yet so I don't know of any rubbing issues. I had a 97 I put the same lift into and i ran Mickey Thomson MTZ 35x12.50, on serious flex situations I did put the front tire into the bottom of the fender. It never did any damage so i never changed anything, I could of easily fixed it by lowering teh bump stops.

This new lift comes with intrigrated bump stops on the shocks so i am waiting to see if this corrects the issue. However RC does only recomend 33's with this lift.

Plans for my vacation include fabricating a new rear bumber and swing out tire carrier. Hear is what it should look like when finished.

Got the carrier and swingout 90% complete all that is left is to make some sort of a latch and fabricate the lower bumber brackets. Then it is off to powder coat!.

There are 2 grade 8 7\16 bolts per side then there is a second bracket per side that is bolted on with 1\2 bolts. There wasn't any reason to go any bigger because the cross brace it bolts to is pretty thin and weak. The tow hooks are basically for looks on the TJ rear bumpers unless you do serious mods to the rear frame.

To strengthen the cross member I added some frame tie-in's from Rokmen when I installed my Body Armor rear bumper/tire carrier. Easy to install and happy with the quality of the product.
[/QUOTE] Thanks for the link they will definatly strengthen the rear.

Fnally getting around to posting pics of the final product:

On your t-handle thing to keep the gate closed, I would suggest putting a washer under the T then attaching a small chain or lanyard to it to make sure it doesn't disappear. I suggest a washer because the hole can be sized to just allow it to spin but not slip off the bottom where the larger bolt it welded on. Might be able to slip a chain link over it and squeeze it tight then small weld to hold shape... otherwise looks good.

I finally got around to doing some more things to the jeep. Thanks to ECGS and Right Side Performance I now have 4.88 gears and a Spartan lunch box locker in the D44. While I was doing the gears I decided change to a HP D30 and do a disk conversion in the rear. Pic’s of HP change will come later.

I finished up the disk conversion today.

I finished installing the HP D30 tonight. I got really lucky the caster was right first try and the pinion angle is pretty good no vibrations on the maiden voyage. The 4.88's definatly gave it a lot more get up and go!!!!

Did you change the backing plate on the axle with your disk conversion or did you add a spacer to put pressure on the seal? The backing plate on the axle is different for disk and drum.....so the seal will not stay together/sealed with disks if you use the drum ones.

If you need the right parts call Chase.
