Just curious

Yeah I was kinda excited when pringle fab joined the board I thought they would atleast give 10%off but they said $625 for 14" shipped. If only the profenders weren't made in taiwan...

i can get COs for $545. I was really starting to consider these.

Whats wrong with Taiwan?

Comparing the Profenders to some of the other USA made shocks, the Profenders have some very comparable and superior qualities. They have been in business for 40+ years making shocks...

They are not a USA company farming out sub-par parts to Taiwan, they are a true quality shock that just so happens to be located in Taiwan and breaking into the US market :)

do you run them?

They are high end shocks. You're not going to get a nice/decent coilover with dual rate hardware/tender and springs for less than that. Especially after you change springs just once. They've always been expensive with a long lead time. I think both are going down recently though.

My quote is with springs. I think $700 per corner is steep. Especially for a trail ride. I could understand a comp rig.

I'm not at all knocking profender shocks but If you consider the price of the ori vs. a coil-over it's not that bad. If you go buy the co's for 550 you'll still need bumps and limit straps to keep from destroying the shocks. Now you're up to almost 800 per corner. The ori's have internal compression bumps and lots more other nice features.

I'm not saying that ori's are the best thing out there but for a little more money you get a lot more.

This is why I was considering the ORIs. I guess I was hoping for a little less. I could stomach $600 but $700 plus tax is gonna put me back even further.

True and if it really is just a trail rig a good set of poly bumpstops should do the trick instead of airbumps.

Thailand and Taiwan are not the same thing.
Profender Shocks are made in Thailand, along with bolts from Fastenal, Hard drives for every computer, and Asian chicks. :flipoff2:
That is a bit different. Didnt notice that before. While its still not usa at least they aren't made by 7 fingered 8year olds. Lets see some pics of the manufacturing and workers.

well what exactly is comparable about them and what is superior?

Search around (what I really don't have time to do right now...) but David G has a great writeup on the Profenders here on NC4x4 as well as someone else on Pirate. I think Snappy even did one on the air bumps here on NC4x4...

However, that was months ago so I'm sure there are other viable and respectable reviews out there now.

I'll check it out. I didn't realize Profender had a rep on the board. I just sent you guys a message about this subject. I guess I am being lazy but I alos like to hear it from the horses mouth.

So do tell, what makes your product comparable or similar to ORI STX struts?

I'm going to be honest, the packaging of the thing has really got me thinking. An air shock, internal bump, limit strap and sway bar all in one sounds pretty good.

I dont think they are similar to struts.

We sell coilovers, air shocks, bumpstops and bypass shocks. they all have a different purpose. Air shocks are not meant for racing, they get hot too fast and fade very quickly. Air shocks work great for crawling, light weight and easy to adjust.

I have never used a strut so i cant comment on how they work.

It all depends on your vehicle and what you are going to use it for.
