The Kia Telluride Has Some Serious Off-Road Chops

Ok it has been a while since I was on this trail but there must have been some MAJOR changes or bypasses he is taking?

Did anyone happen to see this or know the author etc? I know that ledge in the hairpin turns used to be so steep you could not climb it unless lucky or on the winch or in a REALLY well built machine?

Thoughts?

Didn't read the article, but I can tell from the pictures he only went up the backside where there are bypasses for everything. He didn't do the ledges. Also, he's full of shit. He had to leave the trail to stage this picture:

I read it a while back. It haunted me. The next weekend, I blew a bead one muddy night on the backside. Kia’s winked at me for a month after that.

It was just the backside. IIRC, they added a skid also. Doable on a dry day with all the bypasses I guess.

It haunted me.

You want to talk about haunting.....when this came out I felt like my "major accomplishment" was being compared to potty training (everyone does it eventually)

Dang, I missed that one! “There went the bumper”. Said that about 40 times with the wj. Along with mirrors and tail lights. Lol

I wouldn’t let that one get to you. That’s that “west coast” wheelin’. :D

Pretty sure I saw a winch line there near the end too. Or I’ll keep telling myself that.

Last time we were out there we ran into Richard, driver of the Sorento after he took a group of tour folks up Hell's Gate in one of his tour Jeeps. I am pretty sure he is the son of Dan Mick whom we have ran into more than once on the trails. He said he drives of Hell Gate multiple times weekly. He also even kinda rolls back at the top to scare the passengers. He told us that climb in the Sorento was real sketchy, but it did actually make it...lol
