koh 2011? whos going?

the downfall is I do not have the vacation time with my new job to take the time off :(

There's a really easy solution to that 'problem'.

In fact, when we went to the Rubicon, one of the guys in our group quit his job for exactly this reason.

Hadnt really thought about going until now, what are the dates, where is the closest airport, I might be down for last second trip, any other ECORS guys going?

KOH is 2-11
the UTV race is on Thursday I think
LCQ is Wed I think. correct me if I'm wrong

Best airport is the Ontario airport, so I've heard. You'll want a RV to sleep in. The desert can be COLD at night, sandy and windy. Last year it rained and was windy. I think they even saw some snow in the higher elevations.

last year was REALLY cold. take pants, warm jacket and a warm hat. Or you'll have to buy em out their

Palm Springs Int'l is the closest at about an hour away. Ontario might be cheaper, but it's 2hrs away. LV is about 3hrs away.

It's the desert. It gets cold at night. It can get very windy. You'll want wrap-around sunglasses or goggles if it gets bad. It might be t-shirt weather in the middle of the day, and then the sun will go behind some clouds, and you'll be hunting for your hat and hoodie.

You do not want to camp in a tent, but you can.

If you don't know where you're going, you'll get lost.

If you have a Lowrance 540c and know exactly where you're supposed to be going, you'll probably get lost.

You can buy everything you need in Yucca Valley. If they don't have what you need in Yucca Valley, you can drive to LA. Last year, Usnick sent guys into LA to get a new motor for his car. Swapped it in a couple of days before the race.

If I idle my cummins @ night will it have enough heat to keep me warm:flipoff2:

BTW -- you need a thermostat. I started my truck the other AM when it was in the teens (after the ice storm), and had warmish air coming out of the defrost within a few minutes. ;)

Might want to throw a water pump at it while you've got it apart, too.

Has anybody heard from Todd Puckett, Shawn Rose, or Adam Carter?

I know Travis and Shawn have been in touch. They're sharing a tent with Usnick and someone else to work on their junk.

Got an email from Todd Puckett. He says they're not 100% ready yet (who is?), but they'll be there.

Plane tickets are purchased. :D

4 guys, 1 motorhome, 5000 miles, round trip across the country, it's going to be one hell of an adventure

Craig, when are you guys leaving?

Going to be in the big brown bus?

Shawn,
We are planning to leave Friday the 4th around 7-8pm, yep the big brown bus although it's been called many things.
