So I am working from home today while the satellite man installs the new boxes.

He walks into the garage and sees the k5 and immediately "we bond" he too is a car guy.

I just heard all about his S-10

Built with a 1,500 hp V8.
Holley Exterminator carb. 750 Double Pumpers.
Double hump heads with 300 extra hp.
Poured 2" of concrete in the bed just for traction
Extra long rods so it hits at the top end and gives it that shake.

Drove it 6 miles Sunday and it used $28 in gas.

Cant make this shit up.
OMG....

Where does one begin?

Guy told me once he built a "tree fitty" that had so much power it spun all the rod bearings as soon as he crunk it! I bet he knows your guy!

Sounds pretty awesome. My truck is faster than a new corvette. And my jeep was the one they used when they landed on the moon too.

One of the best ones I've heard recently was the KX250 that had a big bore kit and would run 112mph with stock gearing. (i.e. the big bore kit netted him roughly 35mph higher top end) Said his buddy paced him in his Jeep. That was the real red flag. We all know the Jeep would have death wobble way before 112mph.

I'll start at the top of the list with the most obvious.

I guess next would have to be the 2" of concrete?

Tie with everything else said for 3'rd???

I bet it had a 390° duration and .625 lift for more bump and bottom end !

This fawker is STILL HERE.
We had Directv and they started sucking since AT&T took over. Dish called and offered us a bunch of crap and a lower bill (by $50) for free so we took it.

He had to swap out 5 boxes and change a dish. Thats it. The wires are already all ran, tvs going back in where they were and we are going on 4 fawking hours.

Yet another reason I'm happy I switched to an antenna in the attic - slow damn installers/repair folks who will get it wrong anyway.
Cost per month - $0
Not losing patience with issues - Priceless

Still. Fawking. Here.
STILL!!!!!!!!

he doesnt get paid by the hour he gets paid by the job.

Met a guy once that said he had a 4.56 gear in his stock 5.0 fox. I told him that was way too much gear to which he replied "I start out in second".
Now, I asked him what was the point and he told me "That's one less gear I gotta shift when I run it" with a well duh look on his face.
I laughed out loud, he was like WTF...

Can't tell you how many people I have met with huge cams in stock engines even with stock valve springs.

Old guys who talk about how new cars couldn't run with his old (fill in the blank).

Went to a Chrysler school back when the Stealth came out. We sold jeeps so I got "asked" to go, We were primarily Chevy dealer. The guys there were raving about the Stealth running 12s stock. I told them they were full of $%^& and they shouted me down. I went out to my car and retrieved a copy of Mopar Muscle magazine where they tested one and even with mild mods it never broke out of the 14s. I was an asshole the rest of that class....

Come on guys don't you know those old muscle cars really were so much stronger and faster? They were all running cherry bombs man, and rocking mullets.

450+ HP, too much cam, 11.0 cr, 2 4bbls in 3500 lbs , no smog stuff or safety stuff, pretty quick but as always somebody would pull up beside you with more

And a mildly modded LS Camaro or TA will bust most of the "hot" older cars who claim to have 4-500 hp.
A stock LS whatever with a 150 shot is quite a screamer. Low elevens with AC and pump gas.

I love old cars but modern muscle is faster unless you are talking $20K engine drag cars with plates.

I didn't realize my brother in law did dish install.

I bet this is the same s10 that used to have a 3.1 firebird motor and a welded rear end that runs 9 second quarters and gets 28 mpg. Probably the same truck he was driving when he encountered a 49 pt buck on the way to a tractor pull where he drug a jeep Comanche on 44s 112 ft backwards.

Why the hell is my sister still married to this pos. :shaking:

truth!! &

A dead hook 12 second street car will outrun 99.9% of anything on the road. If they do have some power once you put a length on them they just smoke the tires.

I think the biggest thing is that the old cars FEEL faster, most of the time. My old 79 TA ran 13.8 in the quarter and it felt faster than my 98 TA that ran high 12s. Maybe it was the torque, maybe because it felt like you were a tin can with a motor strapped to your ballsack.

Its because the suspension sucked, so it threw you around a lot more. The front rose up and the back squatted, so you felt more pushed back in your seat, and then everytime you shifted, you went forward as the suspension unloaded, and then back again as it reloaded.
