LCD tv main board sources

only recently did Sony buy Vizio. Vizio is still cheap but may benefit a little now with the use of some Sony boards unlike what they used to have (whatever they could buy the cheapest in bulk).
I’ve had good luck with vizio. I’ve got 3 in the house and they’re all at least 5-6 years old or more. The Sony in my sunroom is no shit 12-13 years old and still kicking.

For quality, I’m watching a Panasonic plasma display in my living room that is at least 10 years old. I threw another smaller one away earlier this year when we needed a smart tv.

the short answer is none of them are great.
I’ve bought a couple of TCL which is the remanant dog Phillips Magnavox through 2349 acquisitions and mergers. They aren’t great or anything but good and cheap.

So....

Then they all suck and I’m back to the top expecting cheap pieces of crap and expensive pieces of crap to last longer than they do.
And I expect my Congressional representatives to represent my best interests and be honorable people.

Yet here we are, both disappointed because expectations and reality are not the same thing

We’ve got a Sony Bravia LCD that’s about that old as well. Thought the HDMI ports weren’t working any more but apparently it just wanted moved from the living room to the bedroom. Already replaced the LG that went in it’s place.

So Panasonic is decent?

Funny, the main board that’s bad in the Insignia is a Panasonic.

all I know is, like Ron I am using a Panny plasma we bought about 10 years ago. No performance change in that time.

There is just zero motivation for manufacturers to make TVs that last a long time. As a consumer they aren't expensive to replace anymore, and the bar of "what's awesome" keeps changing every few years anyway, driving (stupid) Americans to want an excuse to replace it anyway so they can go to 1080p... oh no 4k.. nope now 4k... now 8k... oh no now its UHD curved.....
Companies make more money selling mediocre shit that gets replaced every few years.

Panasonic plasmas were the shit. But plasma lost to the inferior technology because lcd is cheaper to build and they don’t last long so you have to buy a new one .

would you tear apart a car radio to repair it or buy a bee head unit?

I don’t want to jink myself but we bought a 60” Panasonic plasma back in January 2012 and it’s still going strong.
