Leafguard or other non clog gutters?

we have Leaf Guard on our house. I live on Mt Island lake so I am surrounded by pine trees. Here's what I can tell you from 5 years experience:

Gutters themselves stay clean as a whistle. I've pulled up a few guards here and there to check over the years and not a thing in them. Great right?

However, for some reason the pine needles themselves seem to "stick" to the guards preventing water from going into the gutter in a few places. so when it rains I have mini waterfalls at various points on my house. So I find myself 2-3 times a year getting a ladder out and cleaning the needles off those specific places. still quicker than having to clean out all the gutters but a pain in the arse knowing what we paid for the leafguard thinking i'd never be on a ladder again.

I haven’t found any gutter guards that are worth the $. Every one I’ve seen still cloggs up and needs cleaning.

I found that it’s easiest and cheaper to take a few hours on a weekend in the late fall or early winter after th leaves have fallen and clean them out quickly before they become a problem.

I usually use a blower and a hose. Quick and easy and much cheaper.

We have the helmets like post #3 on a rental house. Long story short, a tree limb hit the house a month or so ago, and the helmets had to be removed and replaced. The gutters were half full of organic debris that had gotten through the holes.

I've got the same thing on my house as @rodney eppes does, Richard. I like them a lot...work good. Only knock would be when it's raining hard it will just flow right over the gutters near a valley on the roof.
I do have 1 valley, steeper than the others, that will over-shot, with a Very Hard rain. I asked the Rep about putting a divert-er there. He said that would fix the over-shot problem, but then the divert-er, would collect debris behind it. No Perfect solution!
