Ok, at almost 200k miles I am sure the transmission in my 2013 2500 Suburban is nearing its useful life. So, those of you in similar situations, what did you do?

Rebuild/replace before it lets go?
Drive it until it let go?

Next, rebuild or replace? If replace is Jasper a good option?

Lay it on me, what are your thoughts on any or all of the above?

Drive it til it gives problems. Could go forever. Could get a reman and it shit the bed in a month. I do got a reputable builder in greensboro that gives 3 year and have had tons built by him. Jasper stands behind their units and pay well to replace if it fails which is nice

I agree with Noel. If it's still working just let it go till it fails. I have no experience with any builders down here but I did a lot of jaspers and would recommend that as a solid option given the warranty they provide

The problem with that (according to shaggy at A&A) is that you turn a $3500 rebuild with the correct valving that GM SHOULD have provided from the factory, into trans and TC replacement that throws you over $6k

Most failures in these are just gonna be clutch failure. And any rebuild I have done will have a new TC. That being said. I wouldn’t toast it, just wait til you start noticing some not so nice shifts and etc.

He's already got the "rumble strip" going on...which shaggy said was a big red flag to bring it on in

Pressure regulating valve.

Shaggy had a bag of over 500 stock ones he's replaced in a drawer. He replaces them with what GM should have used in the first place

He told me that 9 times out of 10 if they bring it to him right after the rumble strip feeling starts he can salvage the trans and TC. Of course he goes thru everything to make sure, but if that valve leaves the chat it pretty much chews up everything

I spoke with Nigel at Brutal Speed and he said 90% of the problems with the 6 speeds are caused by trans tunes. He said if I got one to bring it to him immediately and it'll last much longer.
That's also my understanding.
Trans tune fucks the TCC clutch up, material goes everywhere, bye bye trans.
