Let's discuss song lyrics...

Show them how funky strong is your fight

For some reason, Ive always thought about Beck's lyrics when he said "my time is a piece of wax, falling on a termite, choking on the splinters..."

It's free association, inspired by Dadaism. That's his whole thing.

Mine has always Smashing Pumpkins "despite all his rage, he is still just a rat in a cage".

That one actually makes sense.

They don't play Shooter Jennings and Jason Boland on any radio around here...

you need an Xm/Sirius...just got one for the first time in ~10 years and they surprisingly do.

Though tbh Waylon remains one of my all time Top 3...but shooter just doesnt have the same soul

True on both points. Sirius is preset to Outlaw Country in my truck and on our work PC.
Wayon will forever be #1 in the genre.

OT: I wish Sirius sound quality didn't suck.

I believe it was O'l dirty Bastard who said "I keep shit stains in my underwear so I can gets funky for ya".

Words to live by.

Wayon will forever be #1 in any genre.

FIFY

One of the coolest memories of my life was seeing him in concert from the second row at the old paviollion beside Carowinds. It was a Highway man reunion show probably about 1996.... He comes out to start the show with Cash singing 'Aint no good chain gangs' and his mic is cutting in and out. About 30 seconds in Waylon says.

Wait wait wait...fuck this shit. (exact words no censorship) these folks didnt pay their hard earned money to hear half a damn song. Yall fix these mics and we are starting over. What ya say John?

The place went nuts as they walked off stage and cam back about 5 minuets later.

And this is the story told by a 63 year old man (at the time) that proves Waylon was cooler than...everyone

Am I remembering wrong or did the sound quality used to be better when they started out? I bought one of the lifetime memberships they were selling around 10 years or so ago when they were cash poor and trying to grow but sure wouldn't pay for it monthly nowadays.

It was. It started out "better than CD quality", but it's highly compressed nowadays. If I turn the treble way up and bump the bass up a little, it helps mitigate some of the crunchiness, but it doesn't go away completely.

See this is where logic fails.
These 5 big dudes came strolling in WITH some old drunk chick and a feller with green teeth....
Drunk chick and green teeth cant be part of the fight.
Well, I went back and listened to it again. Btw, I had this same conversation with my wife not too long back and @Dylan W. had the same conclusion I came up with but at the same time I agree with you that the wording is misleading.

Anyway, what about the guy that comes in and asks about his car. After that guy does that, he leaves the dollar on the bar and starts to walk out. THEN the 5 big dudes come rolling in. So, really after listening again it appears there is 1 big dude not accounted for. You can't count the bartender. He was already there.

I hate the line in "Red Dirt Road" by Brooks and Dunn where they sing about "Her daddy didn't like me much in my shackled up GTO"

IT'S A COIL SPRUNG CAR. no shackles.

I think it's just the story of a southern ne'erdowell in the South. One of my favorites, next to Pillbug Blues.

I thought it was a shout out to the Beastie Boys...

'I ain't as good as I once was; but I'm as good once as I ever was'

'I get up at 7; yes, and I go to work by 9--got no time for living
yes- I'm workin' all the time'

This one makes me think about my son:

I wasn't born with a violent heart
I didn't know what my race was
I didn't need to kill anyone
All that I knew
All that I knew was love

I wasn't born with a jealous heart
I didn't know what I deserved and
I didn't need to own anything
All that I knew
All that I knew was love

I wasn't born with an ego
I didn't know what my name was
I didn't need to be anyone
All that I knew
All that I knew was love

We grow up and they teach us the evil we've learned
People aren't evil, I'll take my turn
And someday the old way we'll laugh about
But for right now we somehow must phase it out

Yesterday I was a bum and broke
Today I am a star and broke
In this town that's called progress
That's how we do biz

I've been rich and I've been poor
Rich is better, totally better
Requires a degree of acceptance
As in, Must Accept As Is
