I need a new suit for an upcoming convention, and I have non typical proportions. Where's a good place to get one?

But seriously, I need a tailored suit, not some overpriced, ill fitting crap from Belks (no offense to all the Belks employees on here (unless you work in the suit department, in which casee, full offense)). I'm ok with spending a few hundred dollars, but would like to keep it under $500 if possible. Haven't been suit shopping since college.

under $500 hit up jos a bank or mens warehouse and look for a sale
bank will negotiate on their prices.

look at indochino as well...i have an employee who swears by them. havent ordered personally but hes a dresser and loves em

For what you’re looking for I’d start at Goodwill.

Another vote for Joseph A Bank or Men’s Wearhouse. Sometimes I’ll hit up DXL too (same brands as the other two, but Sasquatch sizes).

I’m glad this came up.

Those that know me know I’m a pretty snazzy dresser. Only the best torn/stained t shirts and jeans for me.

My current suit is Ill-fitting at best and at least 15yrs old.

At a recent wedding I got a wild hare up my ass and told the wife I want to get a fucking nice suit. Like really nice.

She gave the green light.

So if you want something a little more baller then men’s whatehouse, where to go?

Unless you’re going all out custom, the brands will all be the same anywhere you go, Ralph Lauren to Armani...and then it just comes down to how good of a tailor you have. If you are looking for custom suit, I’ve used these guys before:

Bunbury Custom Clothiers

Another vote for Jos A Bank and DXL. For under $500 you will be limited at a real tailor.

If you're on a budget, try Brooks Brothers, but don't bother with their outlet stores. It's been a while, but I seem to remember them being a big step up from Jos A Banks.

Jos A Banks and Men's Wearhouse are fine, but they sell mostly (nothing but??) fused suit jackets. If you want a canvassed jacket, you have to go with Brooks Brothers, Suit Supply, Ralph Lauren, etc.

I actually prefer the fit of the last suit I got from belks better than the tailored fit one I just got from Jos A Banks. It looks really nice but I think it’s just for looks lol. If I flex good I feel like it’s going to come apart. This is for a wedding of a member here and the suit was on sale but I think it was less than $250. It makes the 3rd grey suit I have that I’ll likely never wear again:lol:

Live less than 10 mins from brooks brothers factory never stepped foot in it out the outlet store beside it

If you ever come to Raleigh I highly recommend Kanons to get a GOOD suit that fits like it should that you feel good wearing.
In Morganton go to Benjamin’s.

Not sure how often you (or any of y’all) have to dress up for work. But clothes that are tailored to you make such a difference.

You can get canvassed and half canvassed at those places...but it’ll be reflected in price. I’ve never done an inventory comparison, but from what I’ve noticed it’s like buying restoration sheet metal...they all carry the Chinese crap (the cash cow sub-$500 fused panel suits), a couple folks make/sell/distribute quality American made reproductions (middle of the road canvassed suits), those folks tend to carry more of the better quality products...and then if you want NOS there’s 1-2 games in town (custom suits).

Go to a tux/wedding rental place and get one.How many times you gonna need it?? If just once, rent it.

I'm wearing what seems to be a half-canvased suit jacket from Men's Warehouse right now. Confirmed via pinch test.
Got 2 of them for $400 or something. Nothing fancy, but for the 4-5 times a year I need one they work fine.

I really need to figure out how to post pics...

Come to Blustiens in Charleston... They will straight, fix you up. You will stand out like a new penny. They will get a sharp ass suit fitted to whatever shape you are. Bet they can get a hat and a sweet ass cane to match too

In all seriousness... If there is a Brooks brBrothe outlet near you, go see them. Next I would go to Jos A Banks. All good stuff. Unless you want to be unique... Then see above
