My 2006 Golden Eagle has stock axels, want to put front lockers.Any suggestions ? I am not a hard core off roader ,more of forest service trail off roader.

My CJ has a lockrite in the front, but I also have a worn out Dana 20 transfer case shifter that allows me to hit 2lo (rwd). I hated the front end locked all the time before I figured this out, especially with manual steering. It was a lot more tolerable one I upgraded to power steering.

I have had a true-trac and they are great if you don't plan on anything too rough. My current setup is an e-locker in the rear and a Spartan locker in the front with a twin stick shifter.

How do you like that spartan up front? Been thinking about doing one in mine when I regear.

To the OP go with the Tru-Trac or a selectable (ARB, Zip, etc.).

For the price, it can't be beat. It doesn't bang a lot, but it puts a lot of strain on the steering. In 4-lo in dry URE trails, it can be hard to steer.

Yeah, I put new inner and outer TRE's on mine while I had it apart for the locker, now it's pushing fluid out around where the column attaches.

Depends on how much traction you have at the front. In snow, ice, standing water on the road, etc., a front locker can make things really interesting. Depends on how well you can deal with sudden understeer when the locker doesn't unlock around a turn because traction is low. That's really the only problem with lockers in the front, and why an LSD is usually a better choice on the street.
