Cant wait to see how many of you actually click this to see my shaft...

I picked up a set of D30 chromoly shafts from a friend. There is no paperwork for them as they have changed hands a few times. Is there anyway to identify exactly what brand these are? I’m not sure how much of an upgrade it is for these to have a common Spicer u joint that may still break and ruin these perfectly good shafts.

I’m considering these for my stock spares as I trial since they are only $30
Almost Alloy Kit - Iron Rock Off Road

Definitely don’t won’t to go welding on the Chromoly shafts.

If these shafts are not gonna be an upgrade unless I put a good joint in I’m not going to throw them in just yet.

I have tacked the caps in the past with pretty good luck. But those tabs welded on add strength to the ears, keeping them from getting oblonged and egg shaped, which allows the caps to come out.

I thought all chromoly shafts were machined for full circle clips? Are these not chromoly from what y’all can tell?

Sorry to disappoint everyone with my shaft.

Guess I’m gonna throw some new spicer joints and full circle clips in these shafts before I throw them in the jeep. I’m supposed to be getting a set from a buddy soon, 8.8/D30 with 4:88s and lockers.

I intend to drive this jeep like it owes me money, so I’m glad I snatched up these shafts. No idea what brand they are though.

Maybe not the most efficient way. Took an afternoon sitting down to do 2 sets of shafts.

Have these stock shafts managed to hold up better with full circle clips?

I have 2 sets of spares. I may do the weld on cap on one set, and this on the other.

Honestly I never had problems with my old shafts that had the tiny u joint and half circle clips. I did this when I went from 33s to 35s and they have not had a problem. I got new spicer u joints so the setup was a cheap upgrade.
