I'm still rocking the original top on my 2001 wrangler. It's time to get a new one.I've been telling myself this the past ten years but it's a done deal now. I've been lookin and man you got all kinds of options on manufactors and the prices are... well... I'm confused now.
Who makes a good quality product at a good price. With 240,000 miles, she isn't pulling DD duty anymore so a thousand dollar Bestop replace a top isn't needed. I am leaning towards the bow less style tops. Hit me with who you went with and how did it stand up to the test of time.

Everyone that has the Rampage bowless style tops that I know likes them. I’m still running the factory top on my TJ so no first hand experience.

I’ve used rampage bowless and Bestop trektop nx, both are good looking and easy on and off. The zippers on the rampage top are not as forgiving as the trektop. That being said, if you are willing to take your time, and let the top sit in the sun and stretch out before you put it on you’ll be fine.
The windows on the Bestop are thicker, and in my opinion more durable. Pavement ends tops are made by Bestop, but use a thinner plastic for the windows so that they can compete price wise with less expensive tops.

I had the rampage top on my tj. I would do it again if I had a tj needing a top.

I need to stop procrastinating and buy one too.
I'm looking at this one from amazon, https://smile.amazon.com/Sierra-Off..._2?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1523113169&sr=1-2
It's gotten decent reviews, and it's 205$.
The lower end smittbilt, pavement ends, and a few others are really thin material that i don't like. This one is supposed to be thicker. But i haven't seen it in person. you order it and let me know. haha.
:)

Edit: just make sure you get the one for the 97-02 wrangler. they are slightly different.

Trailhugger's dad just bought one from here:

Jeep Wrangler Soft Top Replacement | Jeep TJ Soft Top

It seems fine, but he did have some complaints about it buffeting at highway speeds. He put some foam under the main bow at the b pillar to tighten it up, and that fixed it. We also have a couple of Smittybilt tops. They seem fine, but aren't quite as nice as OEM/Bestop.

If I had to buy one, I'd probably look for a bowless option. The nylon straps in the bow frame tear and cause the top to loosen up (probably what was wrong with my FIL's), the plastic pivots break, etc, but none of the cheaper kits include any of that stuff.

Pavement Ends $225 replace a top has been the best bang for the buck I have found. It fits well and is watertight.
Same. I didn't have the stock bows and hardware so the pavement ends bowless has served me well

I had the hardware so I went with a top like below and mine was an Amzon open box as well. My top had no issues other than the box was beat up.
