looking for trails

yeh if i ever go back there that's what i'll do, but i don't live there anymore and my guess is that it's being developed all around and whatnot. I had verbal permission but nothing in writing. Anyways...umm yeh sorry for all the drama :bounce2:

but just a little side note, when all you got started, was your first off road adventure to URE, tellico, or Moab, and was your first rig completely capable of going there? or did you do a little wheeling wherever you could find close to home until you realized that there was more out there and a need to build bigger?
where are the free places to wheel? do they not exist without breaking rules?

Verbal permission ain't good enough anymore, with out written proof that you have permission, you are risking fines, legal action, possibly property siezure, Welcome to 2007 and the litgious society we are graced with.

Most of us started out that way you want to, but the rules were not as defined nor was the legal process. Some of us did get caught, fined, reprimanded....... most of us understand, and are relaying this info to the younger crowd.

Sort of ahh.... Pay it Forward ..... if you will

It wasn't until I was able to actually go to Tellico, Uwharrie, and a few other places that the true appreciation of what they offered was much greater than the local mud pit.

I spent a weekend at the fire department washing and waxing fire trucks and cleaning out their shed if that tells you anything. That was many yrs ago.

ban unless the youtube stuff is taken down too.

the youtube stuff isn't in illegal places. the video of me in the easements of discussion aren't on the net, they're older and i can't even get them onto the computer. Know some of the people that owned the land in one of the places, and the other place was river road before it got sold and the no trespassing signs put up, so there's no problem with that.

I'm not going to be wheeling back home before bc everything has changed, and the previous owners of all the places i mentioned have all changed and are no longer accepting 4wheeling, i have no problem with that. I'm on the path to building it up so i can make it to URE.
side note, where can one go that needs the use of 4 wheel drive that you don't have to pay to drive on?

uh, you don't need to "build" anything for ure. a stock gc will go everywhere just fine.

the outer banks is free any time, and is public land. private places like dpg, the farm, etc. are all free when open invites are held. (some special events aren't). what's the big deal about saving 5-10 bucks a day at ure, tellico, etc. though? you're already spending money to make the trip. plus, the money helps keep things open.

yeh i was just wondering, i mean after all the gas to get there and the backup funds in case something breaks....it's just nice to save some money every now and then. what's the farm? i've never heard of that, is there a website or a page with some info about it?

look in the upcoming and past events sections.

Hmmm just noticed the signature....
And the hard headedness....

Can I get an IP check here and on Ricky....

§ 113A‑95. Trail use liability.

(a) Any person, as an owner, lessee, occupant, or otherwise in control of land, who allows without compensation another person to use the land for designated trail or other public trail purposes or to construct, maintain, or cause to be constructed or maintained a designated trail or other public trail owes the person the same duty of care he owes a trespasser.

(b) Any person who without compensation has constructed, maintained, or caused to be constructed or maintained a designated trail or other public trail pursuant to a written agreement with any person who is an owner, lessee, occupant, or otherwise in control of land on which a trail is located shall owe a person using the trail the same duty of care owed a trespasser.

(c) Repealed by Session Laws 1993, c. 184, s. 6. (1987, c. 498; 1991, c. 38; 1993, c. 184, s. 6.)

It looks like, unless you get in writing, and pay for or other wise compensate the owner for permission to use his land, its DEFINATLY trespassing.

also..here's an interesting piece of law

§ 113A‑92.1. Adopt‑A‑Trail Program.

The Department shall establish an Adopt‑A‑Trail Program to coordinate with the Trails Committee and local groups or persons on trail development and maintenance. Local involvement shall be encouraged, and interested groups are authorized to "adopt‑a‑trail" for such purposes as placing trail markers, trail building, trail blazing, litter control, resource protection, and any other activities related to the policies and purposes of this Article. (1987, c. 738, s. 153.)

So, if we adopt a trail at a state forest, it looks like the trail building and blazing is at our discretion.
