One last thing that i also think is funny, is how people are so insecure about their own work, that they make fun of other peoples. and whats this crap about "i hope pirate doesnt find out" or whatever. When did pirate become the 4x4 Gods? they have tons of info, and great guys over there but why is it nc4x4 holds them in such high standards instead of just workin to make this site better?

Wasn't gonna chime in but, well, you know me.
I have met Ricky. He has been to my home. We have done some trading. Could have been a here ya go, see ya, but no, we talked. I found him to be a very nice guy. Young, inexperienced, with very willing to learn all he can about this 4wheelin thing. Rickys views are not the same as everyone elses. But, neither are mine. He has took a lot of bashing here(NC4X4) and some of it in good humor, and a lot of just outright uncalled for comments. He has offered to help many of the folks here. Ok, he asked for help on some wiring. So what? If I were closer, I would be willing to help him. It's not rocket science, but you do need to have a good understanding of how to do it, since it could result in a bad situation if not done properly. I am sure I am not the only old fart on here that knows how to do it.
Ricky likes Mud. again, so what?? I used to also. Still do to a degree, but not in my current rig. He has a club, so what? I think it's pretty cool, as a matter of fact I am part of one, a big one, but we have different ideas of fourwheeling.
I have not once seen Ricky post that he is a master fab guy, never once that he was a certified mechanic, he has offered help, and maybe be able to pick up some change along the way. Heck, I do that myself.
Ricky I would like to offer a congrats on the way you have handled yourself since you have become a member. And also on obtaining your rank in the BSA. I was one also, but never achieved that level.
Wish you were closer, I'd wrench with you

My first .01, Ricky...if you want to run a 4x4 biz that is cool man, get lots of experience by helping out your friends AND try and get some formal schooling as well in fabrication, mechanics, etc. Don't let anyone put down your dream, but also realize it is hard work and sometimes for ungrateful customers.

(I watched a local 4x4 shop get flamed in another list this week...he defended himself..but I sympathize with both sides...he needs to make money...they didn't realize they were being annoying)

My second .01...Stone...being stone, which is to say not really contributing much and being a jerk, but I still will wheel with him, but you will notice I didn't bother to read his thread he started until it was 6 pages long if that tells ya anything! :)

nah reid's just passing it on. hes had his ass handed to him on pirate several times for being a whiny little bitch about some stickers or something, so he comes here to find someone else to pick on and stroke his internet ego...

I'm going to have to sorta agree with Chip on this one. I have never met Ricky and never had any dealings with him. I have to say though, he has taken quite a bit of punishment on this site over the past several months, and has taken it better than 99% of people would. Do i always agree with the choices he has made concerning his rigs, no, but he has taken the comments from everyone about it like a man. I don't recall him ever getting super denfensive about the things people say, and that is something that is rare.

Chill out about his website. Its not that big of a deal.

And on the whole Reid/Stone thing, he likes to bust on everyone. He seems to get off on the fact that he "brings teh funny." I wouldn't let things he says get to you. If i recall he was a newbie just a few years back also.

that's just it... he's gotten his "funnay". he goes for reactions out of people, and he's provoked one from a number of people. that's the extent of it... people take the internet way too seriously. he's an arrogant asshole and always bs'ing around, but a hell of a nice/good guy when it comes down to it.

as far as this website is concerned, my main issue is the recovery thing.

1.) what the hell are you going to recover in that street queen z71?
2.) where are you going to recover anyone from around here without promoting/participating in illegal wheeling?

i've got my opinion on other things like his responses to anyone offering him helpful/knowledgeable advice, but that's been voiced before. i will say he seems like a nice enough guy though, and has thick skin which is definitely a good thing to have.

We've never met. But I have kids your age and have to say something.
I may get frustrated watching you refuse to listen to the good advice so many have tried to give you on several points, but I have to hand it to you.
You have taken a bunch of heat on 2 or 3 different BBSs and have not let it get you.
I haven't seen you lower your self to the cat-calling and BS that so many more "adult" members have sunken to.
You have remained polite and respectful in your responses.
And stood your ground.
That takes a level of maturity (and thick skin) beyond your years.

If you don't electrocute yourself or blow yourself up first, you just might make it.

If you can stand some unsolicited advice.
Find a real shop (doesn't have to be strictly a 4wd shop) who will give you some part time work.
Take the cotton out of your ears and stick it in your mouth, and get some experience working with a professionsal shop for a while. You will learn more in a few months than you will in a few years of shade-tree wrenching

i would say that sums me up. ivan, nick, rich, andy, mazer, limpy, shinton,and others that have wheeled with me will tell you i am a nice guy. but just a dick who like bs around.

I don't see why everyone is on his case so much really. It's a website -- in no way does the site say I can convert a toyota to solid axle. It doesn't say he can do any type of major fabrication. Minor fabrication would be anything from welding shock mounts to trimming fenders. I see he can put on lift kits and such. He still has alot to learn. We all had our own start be it from a relative or just being at the right place to gain some hint of knowledge on various parts of 4x4's.
