Is there a law against picking up trash/items on the side of the road? As in, did he break the law in any way? I know it's a crappy thing to do, but is it illegal?

I was wondering the same thing.....I'd be pissed to lose a 44/wheel, but maybe the guy will be cool about returning it.

My cousin had something similar happen. He was driving back after helping me work on my toyota and got in a small wreck the bounced his air compressor out of his truck. A guy stopped right in front of him put it in his truck and sped off leaving my cousin wrecked and without his air compressor. Simply ridiculous what people will do these days

Unf. IMO thsi is the key. I see no law being broken.
Sometimes there's a difference between "legal" and right.

Seems to me like a classic case of "Finders Keepers, Losers weepers"...

It was '63
Actually, first book i nrecent time was in '51. ;-)

And... the true case is McAvoy v Medena, 1866. Defines "lost" v "mislaid" property.
And.. in the end.. the proprieter of the location where the item was mislaid is in fact the new owner. IF the true owner does not return "withi na reasonable time".
So I guess the bogger belongs to DOT?:lol:

(I just learned something new today!)

Wow..you took it to another level hahahah

I'd say he's within the "reasonable" amount of time here.

I'd say that's bullshit but...wth he got it back!

Awesome...that guy is all butthurt that I called him out on HPJ

bahahaha

A big thanks to everyone for making a big fuss over the tire. The guy was actually affraid he was going to get jumped when Jason went to pickup the tire because of all the emails he was getting from my 4x4 bros. We gave him $200.00 and it's over.

thanks for putting the pressure on.

Does anyone know how to delete this thread?

carl welch

You go to the first post and hit edit...go to the bottom and it has a delete this post option

no problem btw...

I'm pretty sure only a Mod can delete a whole thread, although I'm not sure why it's necessary here?
