We lost our 12 yr old jack Russell today. He was so miserable, it was so hard letting him go.
I adopted him in 08, he was super skinny. it was my idea and Debra at the time wasn't so sure it was a good decision. He got sick shortly after we got him and she nursed him for weeks back to health feeding him boiled chicken. Before you new it, buddy was mommas boy!

We love you Buddy! I will never forget you.

We lost our 13-1/2 year old black lab a couple of weeks ago. I never posted anything because I couldn't stand to think of it. I'm tearing up right now typing this. She was our baby, our first kid, been through everything with us. So hard putting her down.

OK, enough....officially crying now.

Really sorry bud, I know how it goes. :(

Couple years ago, we moved to a new house 5 times as much land and lots of room to roam. We were all outside one night and momentarily lost track of our sweet buddy Ollie. My wife found him down at the road and I had to carry his body back. The worst part was when I put what was left of him in his bed in the front room, realized I had to go in the living room and tell my kids what happened. I cried harder walking up that hallway than I did carrying him all the way up the driveway. People who don't own dogs never get the impact they have. I still miss my little shadow following me around.

So sorry to hear this.
.
If you have a dog, you know you have to deal with it sooner or later...but it sure ain't easy.
I hear ya and Im dreadin it.We have a 11 year old golden ret that was a Christmas present to my son one year. She was just 7 weeks old,I hope she just goes in her sleep.I would if it came down to it,but it would be hard for me to have her put to sleep.Shes been inside w us for the last 9 years. Its hard to believe you can get such an attachment to an animal but you do.

Feeling your pain Bro.
Sucks.

That is awesome ^^

Sorry for your loss JW. As a lifelong dog lover/owner, I've been there too many times. The poster above says it all.

Thank you all for the kind words and support, it really is tough. It has been even harder on Debra, she was a great moma to him.

Last summer I had to put down our husky mix Metro, it was tough, 14.5years is a good life.

The week following we realized how much Metro ment to the whole family in just having a non biased neutral member who now matter what was there for you.
We picked up another happy guy from the shelter soon after.

I'm sorry for your loss Jason, many folks really have no idea how much a part of the family pets really are

Sorry for your loss Jason, I had been without one for years due to this very situation and not wanting to deal with it. God works in mysterious ways and we recently added a shelter mutt to the family and I had honestly forgotten the joys they bring into a home! Y'all do have the memories and the knowledge that you added several good years to his life.

Sorry bout your loss. It is the hardest thing having to let them go. We still miss our two labs (12 1/2 and 13 years old) we had to have put to sleep 4 months apart last year. They grew up with the kids and were a real part of the family.

sorry for your loss. The pain is terrible but the love is worth it and it sounds like you gave him a great life and should be joyful knowing that.

It's hard to not tear up reading this, much less remembering the friends I've lost. Wholeheartedly, I wish you the very best.
