Lots of activity on our road today. Guy left home about a mile up the road on foot (barefoot) on September 3rd, and hasn't been seen since. A couple of times today, searchers on ATV's have come down our driveway. I don't see a barefoot guy (well, most folks anyway) walking a mile on asphalt, then a half mile on gravel, but you never know. From driving by a few times in the past couple of days, it looks like most of the searching right now is in the ditches and brush just off the roadway, going in 3 directions from his house.

To do my part, though, I walked my land as best I could before the rain started this afternoon. I might go up the the firehouse tomorrow and join in if they're still looking.

So what's up w/ the bare feet? Was he shasing something unexpectedly? Just decided to go for a short stroll?
To go w/ a sweeping stereotype this guy dosn't look like the type of laid back hippie to just prefer no shoes for long distances.
I have a borther in law who is... exactly that... and loves wandering around the woods barefoot. I once walked a solid 8-10 miles with him aroudn town and through the woods, he was barefoot.
He's also pretty much permanently stoned, but can find his way around and back home anywhere from a lifetime of being like that.

Regardless - i'm with Troy. Best of luck to everybody.
After 6 days - either a fugue state/mental trauma of some sort, or will be found horizontal somewhere.

Was reading some of the FB stuff tonight from the family. Seems he was a user in the past, and relapsed in the last couple of weeks. He was staying at his mom's and grandma's house on our road. They said he was going to take a shower and get a nap....they later notice he was gone. Shoes left behind.

From FB:
... today the detectives seemed more on top of things and questioned a few people and even the last person to drop off the drugs... they did a search by pickard road and all in the area of the location and that is also the location of where is phone was pinged but it’s dead so we have no idea where he could be at this point. Nothing was found.

They did say that they think he is/was in the woods (for those local, house is next door to the Pocket Fire Dept) between the house and Gilliam (grist) Mill, according to the last cell phone ping location. Phone is offline now. Google says that a 3-tower location ping is accurate to about 3/4 of a square mile. BUT....we usually get calls dropped when driving past the old mill, so I'd be surprised if it hit 3 towers for a location ping.

That area between the house and mill is about 50 acres....but it's part of 500 contiguous wooded acres with no houses. Somebody might have picked him up at the mill or along 42, and he's long gone from the area. Or, he might be in the woods. Some of the family did mention depression....

Shoot me a message if you end up going. There is a lot of woods and deep creeks on that area.

So you think that couple is still gonna buy the property?

Heard that he was found in the area in the very top-left corner of this pic...dense new growth pines, 6-8' tall. If you cut a path thru there, or pushed your way through, you could pass within a few feet and never see him.

Everybody expected him to be in the woods between the house and the mill, and as far as I have seen, that's where most of the ground search occurred.
