Probably not a terrible idea
Also, probably a terrible idea. If we should have $400 billion dollars worth, but we actually have $300 billion, or even $200 billion, then what happens?

(Actually, we know what happens: The government lies about it and says we have $600 billion )

All that has to happen now is to name the winner of the Top Bill fight as the next Republican Presidential candidate, and we'll be just one step away from truly living in Idiocracy...
I’m not sure if our current President has ever watched Idiocracy, and if he has, does he realize he is making it a documentary?

thats not good
They need this guy

This "right to unplug" is pretty fascinating

Note its not that you're not allowed to be contacted after work hours, but you have the right to request not to be... so those that still prefer a mixed home/work life could still do so.

Meanwhile the long term effects on labor costs and what that may mean for international trade will be interesting.

reading the snippet below the headline... has it been illegal for an employee to ignore their boss?

Not illegal, but you could be fired for it.
E.g. boss wants you to be reachable all the time, your choice is do it or find another job.

This gives legal protection to ignore the boss if you so choose to do.
From what I gather there's still nothing preventing those who choose to be reachable to get ahead faster, but boss can't do anything that looks like retaliation if you choose to ignore them.

I think of it this way. If I were boss, I would make it clear that the expectation is only work during work hours. Yes we have annual bonuses and raises are commiserate with work accomplishment. If you choose to get more work done and reply off-hours that is your choice, and it may come as no surprise that those who do extra work advance faster. But it is your choice whether you go beyond that line.

I like this because it makes it more of a protected "choose your own adventure" situation, providing the option for employees wishing a more balanced work/life scenario - but at the cost of forcing that flexibility on the employer. Clearly a challenge for sales-heavy / customer focused jobs, but also if the point is to try and push the mean of society to a different norm then this is one way to do it.

so the correct statement would be that they are making it" illegal for the employer...", not "legal for the employee...".

Got it.
