Why would keeping the stock gauges matter at all with a motor swap?
Other than piggy backing the GM ECM with the Jeep ECM, I don't see a way to get the VIN written to an LS operating system. HP Tuners won't let you have an operating system/VIN mismatch. I'm not sure about EFI Live, but I'd guess it won't either. Why they have to have the VIN read through the ECM is beyond me...
Thankfully, I have been presented with zero issues from my Cummins swap. Granted it's old, over the GVW limit, and it's diesel...but I'm sure someone could make a fuss about it if they really wanted to.
