Metal Flake White

The only one's I've seen were Toyota/Lexus pearl. Beautiful paint, expencive as hell to do and match.

I had a toyota that had a white pearl and it was a very good looking color when in he sun but i dont have an pics

Don't forget about the Caddy's white pearl, or the Nissians.

yeah that caddy diamond white is sweet... keep that in mind, and atleast your sticking with a GM factory color.. much easy to get matched down the road

German pearl has been the best around for a while. From what I learned, the quality of the pearl effect is all about the size of the flakes, and the Europeans use the smallest (though I'm sure Lexus & Infiniti are right there)

This was taken with a <1 megapixel camera, so sorry about the quality.. There's a subtle rose hue that comes out in the direct sunlight.

And yes, matching it to other panels is a bitch, since it has to be done by hand. (spray a few coats, wait, compare, repeat)

Anyone know where the original bigwoody build thread is? If i remember right, he had some real shiny white pearl in his flames on the first hood. Maybe he (or someone else) could chime in with what color it actually was.

Thats a good looking truck andrew. those are the first pictures ive seen of it

None of my business, but with the Fuel Pump issues and the mileage, I think the same $$$ (or value wise since its a trade) would be better spent towards a new crate motor (it is 200K plus....its gonna happen) or at least handling all the mechanical demons.

I mean a :huggy: paint job is cool, but it wont get you to the lake, beach, whatever destination any better when the rod beaings hit the bottom of the oil pan....

If someone would have bought my boat, I would have been there with ya, but since there were no takers and there were some rust spots...I figured why not...and this is NOT a daily driver...kinda like a weekend warrior thing...so, when the pump or motor does pass away, I'll deal with it then I guess. If the cash would have been there, paint would never been even a thought...

Don't think I'm doing it just because I had cash to burn...the chalk white would have been fine if I had jack to make it mechanically sound...

Fix what I can...in this case...dents, rust, and paint.

Hey man, thanks...

I think I got the better end of the swap. My 91 F150 Custom...no A/C, base model for this beast...

I know it is a gas hog, but it will be seldom driven, and someday, maybe I could sell it for more than I would have gotten for the truck.

It serves my needs for "right now" where the truck did not.

why would you paint it, looks fine.

Main concern is the rust spots. I wanted the truck free of them. It is in good hands now and will be well taken care of. Previous owner believed in keeping it mechanically sound but not so much on cosmetics...(I don't think it had ever been washed)

I figure if I can make the outside look as good as the inside and all I had to do was trade things I am no longer in use of, that I was not getting hits on to be purchased, so be it.

I agree. New paint seems pretty frivilous when you know you will need a new fuel pump at some point. Probably when you are on a road trip to the beach and are halfway there on some random backcountry road with no cell service..... Not wishin bad luck on ya, it just seems like cosmetics would be the last of the priorities to work on over safety and reliability.

my '92 has the same antenna hole in the center of the roof...wonder if it was a dealer/motorola option or something

again you are showing your impatience by not waiting for the boat to sell.

You want it gone, I understand that, but the cash you get from it would certainly pay for a fuel pump, and a partial motor job, or trans job.

The rust spots, check back in about 2 to 3 years, see how that works for ya.

You are at the mercy of the body guy, yep, he'll make the outside real purdy, but will he really repair the rust correctly ? pretty doubtful, Earl Shieb would probably do a better job ( "I will paint you car for $99.95" ) Maaco may also be a better deal.

Do I sound jaded? damn right

LOL...thanks guys...
He's going to give me a photo disc of all of the work done and all of the steps...
but...
point taken...
I'll handle the mechanical as well...
You guys act like I'm going to get paint, and let it all go.
I'm going to replace the ignition module in the distributor and the fuel pump since dad's :poop: mechanic friends made zero effort to troubleshoot anything.
The body work and paint was the easiest way to go to get rid of something I could no longer use.
I had NO plans to spend more money on the boat, and this guy wanted a boat...
The guy has extensive skills in restoring classic Chevelles, Camaros, etc that are rust buckets. He told me how he would repair it, and if he will be including photos to me all week, All I can do is believe him. Maybe I'll get screwed, but if so, lesson learned.
$4 a gallon gas and trying to sell a 31 year old boat that had parts broken...
I tried for nearly 3 months to sell and had zero luck (no serious calls and no cash offers of any kind)and it is nice to have my basement free again.

The guy that swapped with me got the mechanical fixed on the boat (coupler) but is having to run the bilge pump every 10 minutes...I'm wondering if he broke something when he pulled the motor, because I never had that problem.

or he forgot to put the drain plug in...

Wow, makes me glad i didnt get the boat now :shaking:

The dent is still in the back door on the burb, i thought the body shop was gonna get that out?
