A customer came in with this '63 CJ5 wanting me to make him a simple trail rig with a pretty big list of parts.
4.1 buick edelbrock carb and intake
Aluminum radiator w/electric fans
warn 9000?
t18
dana 20
waggy 44's
5.38's
chromo shafts
39.5 tsl's
full cage
tube fenders
sliders
4 link rear with fox 16" air shocks w/a foot stretch or so comp cut
Yj 1.5" leaves up front with hi-steer
12" emulsion fox's up front
bestop seats
I got a little done on the rear frame section this week. Cut the rear of the frame off and did some tube work. The tube work is a bit narrower than the factory frame rails so I can lean the air shocks in and not have to worry about clearance. The cage sliders and frame will all be 1.75 .120 dom.

Is it really? I've found a for sale ad on it on bull gear's web site in Locust. Was it your's then? The guy I'm building it for ended up with this orange one, a 48 yellow willy's and a fairly built sammy from the same guy. Were they all yours?

I traded that Jeep for the 51 CJ3a, it was red. I traded the CJ3a a few months for a built 4runner. I was wondering where it went when i found out it was sold. I do miss it. Any questinos about what is on it let me know.

I like how it comes out just enough in the back to get you wondering whats going on underneath. Sleeper trail rig. :D

Looking good.

D44's w/ chromo shafts can handle 40" tires? I really don't know, just asking.

Well... for what it's being used for I hope so. The customer had the axles and didn't want tons so thats what I'm working with. He has a wheeling spot close to home that him and his kids can go play at and thats about all it's used for. Not really rocks, more mud and light trails from what I understand. I'm reasonably sure it'll do fine with decent chromos and 40's.

Looking forward to this build progressing!

Please keep us updated with lots of pictures!

I'm working on some new pictures. I've had a few other builds going on and haven't been able to work on it. I do have the rear links done with the rear tires on and fenders cut. I'll try to take a few shots of that for you.

Got some work done on the cage today. Tomorrow hopefully X the B-pillar and finish up the rear and over head.

Went by the shop today to check out the progress on this thing. Its starting to look really good. I like all the outside the box ideas on this jeep. Here are couple of pics of in action I took while I was there.

Yep they run from the rock sliders up through to the back of the dash. Leg room and head room are a major concern with the customer. Where the a pillar dies into the top of the dash it will bolt to the top of it. And that bar is stitched to the inside of the body so you can't even see it in the floor board. I'll take a few pics of how i did it when I'm done.
