So now that our newest attractions are open to the public, I can share more photos.

Recently opened are:

LEGOLAND New York (LLNY)
Gardaland Water Park in Garda Italy
LEGOLAND Discovery Center Bay Area (San Fran/San Jose - LDC BA)
LEGOLAND Discovery Center New Jersey (LDC NJ)

Just FYI, we have LEGOLAND parks and we have LEGOLAND Discovery Centers. the difference being the LDC's are found in Malls and are small day visit attractions. for those familiar with Concord Mills Mall, there is an attractin in there called SeaLife. We (Merlin Entertainments) own those as well as Madame Tussauds Wax Galleries.

Anywhooo

That is very cool. I like that these are hand built, but part of me thinks it would also be cool to have a CNC machine that could build them for you. Think of a robot with a Lego pez machine in its arm.

Of course a large 3d printer could likely accomplish something close, but looses the cool/real factor.

that would be some serious logistics figuring out all the different pieces. It's an art form and takes some creativity to be honest.

I can only imagine. Most that saw the machine would likely not realize how cool and impressive it actual is.

Are you saying that there is a Lego attraction at SeaLife at Concord Mills, or just that your parent company owns the aquarium? My 7 yr old daughter is obsessed with Lego right now and we could do that as a day trip over the summer.

WOW.....I think I would love planning all that and building those.....wait....
It takes some creativity to be honest.
Nevermind....I'm as creative as a potato

I have a team of Designers that work in 2 different LEGO software. They design the models and then my builders follow certain aspects like a blue print on building a brick house, or they interpret what needs to happen to make the structure strong.
If this was anywhere but Florida I'd be looking into a job there. Seems like it would be very rewarding to see these creations come to life and relaxing to make them. I'm sure there is stress with deadlines but it seems like you get paid to play.....

Honestly, the builder pay isn’t that great, but the non-existent stress, flexible schedule, fun work environment, good benefits are pretty damn nice. Deadlines exist, but we do a pretty good job of being realistic with our budgets when costing the projects.

not to mention the potential for global travel to the attractions for install.

Do you build it at your shop and ship it complete? Or do you break it down into sections and reassemble on site? Those are amazing structures and you have an awesome job!
