This past weekend I replaced the U-joint that was bad. Since I saw it leaking 90w out of the tube, so I went ahead and replaced the axles seals. This included pulling both side axles, and the carrier out. I replaced both inner axles seals, and both U-Joints. The passenger side was still good, so I will grease it up and save it for the crash box for the XJ, just as a spare.
In my previous post I had mentioned that I could not get it to go into 2WD, with it still up on jack stands, I had Leslie put E brake on, pull into Neutral, and work the transfer case lever. It went into 2WD with little problem. I think binding is my issue there. I didn't see any slop in the linkage. Contributing factors may be that I have a lot more tread on the front, than the rear, and they are two different tire brands too.
Next issue:
This an 4.0 with fuel injection. I have already replaced the fuel regular(it was leaking) and the Jeep came with a new one. Now I find the injectors are leaking. Not so as you see it puddle, but you can smell it. and see a little wet and a puff of evaporating gas as it hits the manifold when running.
My question is since I have never replace or repaired fuel injectors for this engine, is there a seal or O-ring that can be replaced, or, do you have to replace the whole injector?
another issue:
I bought it with the tranny not shifting by it's self. It came with a new TCM from pull a part. I installed it, and put the fuse back in, still does not shift by it's self. So I pulled the fuse and have been shifting it manually. I know it's possible to have had two bad boxes. Especially since both were used, but, is there something else that could be the issue, and what do I need to look at?
TIA
