It is not served, but still made and consumed. The deodorant the inmates can get from the commissary is alcohol free. It wasn't when it was first made available to the them and they would melt it into a liquid and drink it to get a buss. This was the NC prison system. We would also find the occasional hidden bag with rotten fruit in it also.
